OPTICS PLANET ISSUE

I saw another post on here concerning Optics Planet and I’m not going to bash a retailer but I would like everyone on this website to know the hidden details of ordering from them. These are things that they don’t post or even tell you until you call customer service with a problem (I use the term ”customer service” VERY LOOSLEY). I got a new rifle in recently and needed a set of rings for a scope I had for the rifle. I searched every local gun store and no one had what I needed in stock. Next choice, I went to the Optics Planet website and found the rings I needed. Didn’t want to wait a week to shoot the rifle, I put the rings in my cart and went to checkout. At checkout, Optics Planet offers “One Day Shipping“ and states “Next Business Day”. I placed this order on a Wednesday at 3:00 PM with the expectation that I would receive the rings on Thursday. The cost for One Day Shipping was $84 for a $150 set of rings. This seemed expensive so I went on the online “Chat” and texted with a young lady. I ask why the shipping was so expensive and she told me that based on my address, that would be the cost for Next Day. I thanked her and finished placing the order and paid the One Day Shipping fee. Today (Thursday) I got home from work and checked the mailbox (Optics Planet ships via U.S.P.S.) and found nothing but bills. I put a call into Customer Service with Optics Planet to see what the issue was. I spoke with James and after about 20 minutes of being put on hold and him checking to see what was going on and what he might be able to do, I was informed that any order placed with Optics Planet is shipped from their warehouse within a 24 to 48 hour time frame and that a shipping label had been created for my order at 2:00 AM Thursday morning. That was all the info he could give me. I informed James that this was NOT “One Day Shipping” and he said that I was right. I asked why Optics Planet even offered that as an option when it was obviously impossible for them to deliver a product in 24 hours and he said he would bring that up to his superiors. He then informed me that he could do nothing to reduce my shipping cost but he did offer me a 10% credit on my next order. I informed James that I get 10% offers from Optics Planet on a regular basis and was not interested. He told me Thank you and Have a Nice Day. End of “Customer Service”. Don’t fall for the “One Day Shipping” trap, in my opinion, its false advertising and just a way to overcharge the customers for shipping they never intend to provide.

Very interesting you've posted this now - as it might explain what I'm experiencing. (Although receipt of my scope isn't time critical so if it takes some days for this to resolve it's not a problem for me.)

I ordered a new scope this past Sunday. Order was put in using one of my credit cards I didn't want to use. So I immediately canceled the order (system said that was ok and status was "Canceled") and placed a new order using the right credit card. All of this took place over about a 10 min period.

Monday I get emails stating I need to verify my card. That's a bit of a pain - but hey - it's a big purchase and I appreciate them treating it more seriously than a $40 box of bullets. :D Go through that whole process. Then the next day get an email saying it looks like I ordered the same product twice. Email said they'd process one order and if I do nothing 2nd will be automatically canceled. Figured things were progressing. On a whim checked my account and it said order processing was on hold until I contacted them. I did - reiterating I only want one. They proceed with processing.

Yesterday I get email saying it "has shipped". USPS tracking says package is "waiting for acceptance" but it would be delivered TODAY. Yes - they actually shipped it Priority Overnight (that's what USPS says) even though I used a coupon for free 2nd Day Air. Upgrade! Nice!

Today: No package. Still waiting for Acceptance in IL. This fits PERFECTLY the OP's scenario: Label created before it goes to the warehouse. USPS certainly doesn't know of Optics Planet's processes; nor would I expect them to.

I have only paid once for faster shipping and it was no faster than just regular shipping. Now on all my orders i do what is cheeper. And this took place a few years ago when covid was not to blaim for everything.

Last time I bought from these guys I ordered a scope that showed in stock it took 6 weeks to get the scope , I know sometime they dont even have them and order the scope from the factory after they get their order from customers. Also alls I got was the run around from their customer service! I will never purchase from Optics Planet again for anything. I also gave them a review that was less than pleasant and they didn't post it on their website!

I told them I was going to turn them into my Visa for fraud because I had already paid my Visa bill and no product , two days after that phone call I got a notice that the scope had been shipped. NOT GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE !

Ordered from them once and learned my lesson. Canceled their email flyers and haven't sent them a penny since. Brownells bit me with a 12 days of Christmas sale event when I bought a sale item one day that was further reduced the next day. An email to them was ignored. Going on 12 years without doing business with them.

Ordered items from a vendor before Thanksgiving, notice it would arrive Saturday. FedEx is the shipper, I knew I was going to be gone so I had it redirected to a local drop off point I had use before (snatch and grab crap going on around here).
Inquire about the whereabouts of said package “in route” is it. I have a strange feeling it went back to shipper. I am at a full 7 days late soon.
Interesting that the last shipment from the same place the month before took 2 days from the time ordered.

I have had similar experiences with O.P. They are not the first place I search when I need something.

I have had issues with them also:

Item was "In stock" placed the order, next day discover it was not in stock. Wanted the order cancled, they would only issue a Optics Planet credit for the ammount of the order. Contacted my credit card company, they canceled the payment.

A few weeks ago I ordered two 8 round Wilson Combat magazines. I took almost two weeks to receive them.

I purchase there sparingly and agree "Customer Service" is lacking at best.

I just punched the tracking number into the U.S.P.S. website and according to it, the rings are scheduled to be delivered on Monday Dec. 6th by 6:00 P.M. Ordered on Wednesday Dec. 1st. That is total BS. I agree with Mr. Barrel, time for action. Called Amex and disputed the charge, now they can deal with Amex.

Optics Planet is the worst. The only time I order from them is if they are the only ones that have an item in stock, and if I can wait a week for shipping. I live 2.5 hours from their warehouse and the fastest I have ever received anything is 7 days.

I’ve bought several rifle scopes from Optics Planet and went with the standard/cheapest shipping. Never had a problem but I expected 5-7 days.
