Optics Planet

Most of their stuff is drop shipped from the manufacturer they are terrible about showing something in stock then changing your est delivery date to months or weeks then changing it again when that date gets close. It's best to call them and make sure they have it on hand.
 
I ordered Alpha 6 dasher brass from OP and was told ships in 4 days , well that turned into 3 weeks or more so I cancelled the order and placed an order direct with Alpha brass and had it in 3 days. I will just order direct from now on.
 
Pretty sure OP runs a virtual warehouse based on what’s in their distribution channels. Thus they’ll show it in stock and then when an order is placed, the updated feed will show its out and then you have your delay. Not an ideal process but lends itself to greater selection. My few purchases from them have been trouble free but it’s been quite a while since I’ve used them.
 
Well, it's been 6 days since they charged my credit card because it 'shipped' but hasn't been picked up yet.

There's no way a package is going to be not picked up in 6 days.

I've had other orders go smoothly, but this is not the first time it's taken a LONG time for the product to show up after it's been 'shipped'.
 
I normally do not call out a manufacturer on the net. My experience with Optics Planet is causing me to make an exception. I ordered three items from them on July 27th. All items promised free shipping. Two items were in stock. I was issued a tracking number in about three days for the two in stock items. That tracking number came up "no tracking info available until yesterday". The items showed up somewhere for the first time on Aug. 3rd. Delivery is said to be expected Aug. 8th. I live in an adjoining state, so this seems ridiculous to me. The third item that I ordered was a scope. The scope is to be direct shipped from the manufacturer. They tell me that I will be notified when it ships. As of today, Wed. August 5th, I still have no information on the scope. I have contacted customer service at Optics Planet by email at least 3 times. They really are no help, just excuses. They obviously do not value my business and I will not buy from them in the future. Has anyone else had the same experience there? Perhaps mine is an isolated incident?

In my line of business, we ship and receive daily , having said this it's most likely that it's not Optics planets fault. I've purched lots of items from them over the years and zero problems. It's a good reliable company. Remember, Covid has just about everything messed up right now.

This virtual warehouse deal has always kept me from ordering from them. I’ll do my business with someone that actually has the product sitting on the shelf.

My original post is from 2015. Someone revived it from the dead. NOT Covid related. I can assure you the item was not lost somewhere in shipping. I have read of the same issue with Optics Planet that I had way too many times.
 
In the best of times --- Never order from Optics Planet if they show a "low" inventory count on an item, and if you are desperate then call them and have a Rep check/confirm the inventory amount in their actual system.
 
I'm with the others and just bought a scope and after 5 days, still shows
not picked up. The USPS is worthless but will show when it's pickup.
I called O.P. and they said it was the USPS fault for not scanning.
This pkg. only needed to go a few hundred miles. If it was shipped,
it would have been there by now. O.P. just lied and passed the blame on to
someone else and they know you can't check on it (call or track)with the USPS.
Horrible customer service. Even if they giveaway stuff, never again.
If it doesn't move by Monday, will call and cancel order and tell them that I'm
calling my C.C. company and getting my money back. This has nothing to
do with Covid. They don't care.

They gave me the same story. Pissed me off - they are just lying. Except for during the height of the covid last fall, USPS scans everything right away. In transit might miss some scans, but not when it's picked up.

It's been 8 days now since it was 'shipped' but not picked up.

On Monday I'm disputing the credit card charge.
 
Optics Planet has historically worked very hard to earn a industry leading reputation of sucking. The tradition continues today as they find ways to bing rotten service to new levels of bad.
 
I have to say that while I don't order a lot from them, I've never had an issue. If it shows in stock I get it in a reasonable time. In fact I've ordered twice from them in the last six months and both orders showed in less than two weeks. I also order from their DVOR site and haven't had issues there either. Not saying they don't disappoint people, but I'm not one of them yet.
 
So wearisome. This is another category of comment, like politics, that should be disallowed here. If you "don't normally" do it, then don't do it now.
