Opinions please on this copper solvent.

I've used Kleen-Bore C-10 Copper Solvent in the past. It is a good powder solvent, however it doesn't remove the copper nearly as well as Barns, Sweet's 7.62, Montana Extreme BMG, Shooter's Choice copper remover, and others. Are there other people in this board who have the same opinion of the Kleen Bore Copper Solvent? TIA:confused:

I'm a happy user of Sweet's 7.62, when I need something more than Butch's Bore Shine. There's so much "chemistry" out there today that one can't keep them straight, much less find out what's in 'em.

Never tried what your asking about but I do use Eliminator and KG12 for copper. I like KG12 best for copper but Eliminator is a close 2nd choice and I think is a little better all around cleaning solution.

I like Monatana Extreme 50 BMG and the new Wipe Out Patch Out,not the foam).

Wipe Out has no smell and works great and fast, suds up in the bore. 50 BMG will clean the copper and clear the most stubborn sinus in a split second but works great. Use ME or Kleen Bore "hard" bristle brushes.

Borescope proved that Eliminator was leaving lot of copper compared to the others IMO. Same thing with the Barnes. Gave the bottles of both away

Heard that the KG12 is very good and no smell, just have not tried at this point.

I know that Eliminator did peel the coatings off 4 Bore Tech rods in spite of what they say.

Went to Dewey rods for same money and you can order with extensions.

The Kleen Bore Copper Cutter is so bad at removing copper that you can follow up with a patch of regular Shooter's Choice in a jar and the SC will remove copper that the Kleen Bore missed.:)

I have used the Kleen Bore, but it did not work all that well for me. I continue to use TM Solution for the majority of my barrel cleaning, and if I have to deal with stubborn copper fouling, I will use the Montana Copper Killer,50 BMG). If I am dealing with extreme copper fouling I will use the Outers Electronic Foul Out if all else fails.

Cordially,
Bob Blaine

Try this Copper solvent it will be the best you will ever use..

there was an article written in PS magazine on different solvents etc.
I'm luck i own a bore scope to find out what's happening.
I use sweets to get the copper out then slick 2000 for the carbon. I scope it and find another layer of copper so i repeat the procedure till it's clean. The slick 2000 is really good for carbon. The other way is iosso. patch with the iosso oil then scrub with the iosso paste, then patch out with iosso oil, then clean with a good solvent with a nylon brush and wipe out clean with dry patches, I then oil the bore with butches.
both seem to keep my rifles very clean.
I hope this helps

Gerry, my procedure is just the opposite. Since copper deposits in the bore first, and powder fouling follows on top of it, I use 75% GM Tech and 25% Marvel Mystery oil, two patches wet, two dry. This takes up a lot of powder fouling. Then I run a nylon brush saturated with Bore Tech Eliminator in for the copper. Let it sit about 5 minutes, and patch it out. If copper is still present, I repeat this process until it is gone. I seldom use Butch's any more. I am very imnpressed with how this process quickly removes both types of fouling.

Tenring. I'll give that a try. My friend frank james use to use gm top cleaner. Maybe it's better . It may take some of the work out .

If you are going to use GM Top Engine Cleaner, make sure you are in a well-ventilated area and avoid breathing the fumes!!

I started out using Sweet's 7.62 about 12 years ago.

I have tried lots of other things to since then.

The big variable is the barrel.

I can get the Copper out of a factory hand lapped Stainless Steel Shilen barrel in a minute with 50BMG.

It takes me days to get the Copper out of a pitted surplus used military M39 barrel using Sweet's and brushes.

Does that mean 50BMG is better?
We don't know.

I've used many copper solvents, inclusing Sweet's and 50BMG. In my experience the 50BMG Copper Killer works the fastest. Same barrels, same loads, same amount of shots down the tube.

Just what I've noticed after lots of shooting. YMMV :)

Here's my method and solvents ... for what it's worth:

Step 1 - Insert bore guide into receiver and chamber.

Step 2 - Run patch of Sweets thru bore. Soak 30 seconds. Don’t patch out.

Step 3 - Push brush through barrel far enough to expose entire brush.

Step 4 - Saturate with Butch's Bore Shine.

Step 5 - SLOWLY run it through the bore 10 complete back and forth passes.

Step 6 - Let sit 2 minutes.

Step 7 - Saturate patch with Butch's Bore Shine and pass through bore.

Step 8 - Follow with 2 dry patches.

Step 9 - Push LOCK-EEZ soaked patch through barrel.

Step 10 - Dry chamber, not barrel) with patch of lighter fluid

Step 11 - Wipe crown with soft cloth.

Step 12 - Lube bolt.

Doesn't Lock Ease contain graphite? Is that a good thing?

Is graphite a good thing? Thomas "Speedy" Gonzalez must think so. It's one of many lubricants.

That IS interesting.

The Robla Solo looks like it lost some weight, but only on a stripe, as if the bullet took a very shallow bath in Robla Solo.

The home favorite looks like it was completely immersed.

Has anyone replicated this test?
