Opinions on Shilen comp triggers?

I only have Jewels to compare on Shilen to but I really like the Shilen comp. Some people said they had trouble with theirs but mine went into my Kauger trigger hanger with a little fitment and breaks at very low trigger weight and clean. If I was building another rifle tomorrow I would buy another Shilen in a heartbeat.

I sold something like 8 from my friend's estate. One was all together, the rest were for parts. I had one on a PD rifle and it went into the trash years ago. I wouldn't trade an old Remington I worked over for one.

I have several and some jewells. I find they are 98% of a good jewell, but like jewell they vary quite a bit from trigger to trigger.

I was under the impression that shilen tigers were riveted together and
could not be disassembled.

We have two Bergara B14r rifles, one with a B&A the other a Shilen, I like the Shilen and when I need another, it'll be a Shilen.

FWIW. at the last ARA Factory National shoot, I know the second place shooter used a Shilen and have been told the number one shooter did too.

Update: I met Mr. Odom at the Georgia State ARA match today, yes, he uses a Shilen trigger. Mr. Odom was the first place shooter at the ARA Nationals in Missouri.

I wonder if Shilen changed something, mine is great but so many others hate theirs it makes me wonder.

I just installed two, one in a 700 the other in a Kauger BRIII.

They both broke cleanly with no discernable creep at 2.5 oz out of the wrapper without any further adjustment.

The Kauger hanger just needed a small slot milled on each side for protruding trigger pin ends.

Definitely will buy again.

Unless they have changed, the Shilen is an old-school 3 lever trigger. They are a decent trigger but will occasionally benefit from some careful honing. I have used a couple and found them to be OK. My favorite triggers are the old Canjar LP triggers. They are much better than the Shilens and I like them better than Jewels. It has been a long time since they have been available though. I did a whole bunch of 3 lever conversions, using Mike Walker's instructions, back in the '70's. Canjar's were WAY better IMO. WH

Same modification needed on a Mack Bros hanger, too.
