I was wondering if anyone has opened up the lug cutout on a HS Precision stock? My barreled action has a Tubb lug that is .366" thick and the opening in the HS stock is around .250". I will have to mill forward around .120" to fit the Tubb lug. I know the stock has a bedding block and I believe this stock has the aluminum running up into the forend. I'm wondering if removing .120" would damage the aluminum support running forward of the action. Has anyone tried opening up the lug area on a HS Precision stock with good results.
I tried to find a cutaway picture of a HS Stock so I could see how the aluminum support is forward of the action and lug but not having any luck. I hate to ruin a perfectly good stock. I could always put the barrel in the lathe and set it up for a lug .250" thick but that is a lot of trouble. Especially since the gun is a tack driver.
