One Mile competition

If a match was held on the Monday (January 16, 2012)before the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, would you consider attending a one day match shooting at one mile?

I have a range that is willing and available, I have to see what the interest is.

I'm also looking for suggestions as to targets, how to see hits on the targets (no pits), do you have a shootoff (top 10), format, etc.

Other then locals, I don't think you'll get much interest. Monday is the range day for all the company's to show off and shoot their newest guns. Dealers and media will be there.

I attend the show every year and would not want to transport my gun(s) from Ohio to Vegas for a 1 day shoot before the S.H.O.T. Show. Then after the shoot I would have to store my gun(s) in my hotel room for the remainder of the week, and then transport it back to Ohio on the Sat. we leave.

Others may have a different opinion, but it would not be feasible for me to do so.

Talk some of the companies that scream "LONG RANGE", and have them supply the equipment for us to shoot!

I was concerned about out of town draw and felt a 1st prize of $1,000+ would make it worth it. The facility also has secure lockers for storage of firearms.

Having been involved with media day in the past, I'm not concerned about the conflict. I'm looking at drawing shooters, not media nor "large" manufacturers.

The idea of working with manufacturers to display their products in a mile shot competition may fill the gap for competitors that cannot bring their own equioment.
