On the heels of a hot 6mm

Necking down the Weatherby 6.5 RPM case to 6mm would provide a huge gain over even a 6-284. The downside would be because you're trying to burn a shit ton of powder in a 24 caliber bore size you'd want to run a pretty long barrel to see much gain over a smaller cased cartridge like the 6-284. Also, Weatherby brass has never been known for taking much abuse before they start giving up primer pockets so I don't know how hard you could really stand on it.

Even with it's sizable case capacity the factory 6.5RPM ammo isn't very impressive with regard to velocity so I'm not sure if that's a barrel length issue or they just can't run the brass very hard.

I just got through working up a load in an 8 twist 6mm prc which should be equivalent to a 6mm 284. 108 eld with 57gr n165. 3300fps. RL26 can push them beyond 3400. I'm going to try some 105 hybrids. Im going to stick with the n165. It should give me quite a bit better barrel life. Im running .004" neck clearance. I'm guessing that folks who ran into pressure issues before getting good velocity out of the 6mm-284 didn't have enough neck clearance....or wasn't using a slow enough burning powder.

Would R-33 work with the 6-284/-06 with 105’s and up?
I'm not sure but I believe that you would run out of case capacity before you got much velocity. I tried Ramshot LRT. I didn't run out of capacity but kept going up in charge weight until I actually started losing velocity. I've saw that sort of thing happen before with powders that was way too slow for a particular cartridge.
