Cool and crisp 50* this morning and 73* for the high

Third cut of hay down (pic) will be baled Saturday

A/C off….mountain snow ❄️ expected on ridge tops above 10K’

Every year I tell myself that "one of these years" I'm going to take the whole month of September off work. My favorite month of the entire year!
I settled for a week.
I've been doing that for 15 years so far. I highly recommend it. My favorite time of year and my all time favorite poem is September, by Helen Hunt Jackson. I was introduced to the poem in my early grade school years. If you love fall and haven't read this poem I suggest it is worth looking up.

I'll bet that if all of us September babies were to step forward it would be a bunch. I'm one of em, and it seems like a high percentage of folks were born in September. I think we fell in love with being alive in September, and never got over it.
Count back 9 months. Cold, dark early, no tv or internet. I was born early August. My Dad got his Christmas present a little early.

Yes, that certainly is true.

An InterWeb search said August and September have the highest birth rate. Factors included the Holidays, like Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the vacation time around those.

I'm a November kid, so my Folks got "randy" sometime in February. Maine is well known for its long, cold, dark nights that time of the year. ;)

Fridays now and then. Watching 12 deer in the lower back yard with my
first cup of coffee. Crab apples fell early......

At a previous employer we could take up to 6 weeks off during the slow first months of the year. My plan was to take the 6 weeks and go to Europe and watch some of the early season cycling races in Portugal and Spain, see where my family came from, etc. Got everything together to do it and then Covid monkey wrenched it! Delayed but not cancelled, I'll still do it in between jobs in the next couple years.

Happy birthday Fuj. I was born on Friday the 13th but in November. I'm enjoying coffee myself and up here in North Florida the morning is starting to have a coolness about it.

My mother was born on Friday the 13th, graduated from her RN nurses training on Friday the 13th and married on Friday the 13th in September of 1947. I honored her with choosing #13 as my high school football jersey number.

I think that is because our parents snuggled a little too much, under the blankets and quilts, on those cold Dec/Jan nights.
