OMG 308 SB Die

When I first started using a small base die One Shot wasn't cutting the mustard. Went to Imperial and a huge improvement. A little more research and started using Dillon Case Lube (DCL). The Dillon lube reduces sizing effort over Imperial by a substantial amount.

Of all the once fired brass I've collected it chambers in my rifles and never needed to resize any of it.
I just neck size and shoot them.

FL sizing is further down the track......

That’s not the norm, you have got by lucky. I think I have thrown most of my neck dies away with the exception of a few Lee Collet dies and I use a body die in conjunction with them

Once you find the right lube, make sure to let it sit in the die for a five count before lowering the ram.
Had a problem with 6.5BR brass.
Letting in sit in the die for a few seconds solved the problem. I was on a wild goose chase before I did this.

I'm more impressed with you pulling your press off your bench !
(judging how mine is attached)

I agree with the others, full length size with regular die before using the small base die and see how that works out.

Did the FL then the SB without the expander then the small base again with the expander.
They still looked pretty banged up after all that. But they are properly sized.
What do you mean they look beat up after sizing?… you never did answer what these one time fired brass was fired in?

Have no idea what they were fired in but my guess is M14
The shoulders were dented pretty good from both firing and some lube dents.

I have found that RCBS case lube works the best for me. I tried many different types to make 280 Ross brass from 300 WM without the 280 dies. One of the worst lubes was imperial.

Was the force needed to size them reduced ? If so, by about how much ? Did you anneal them before trying again ? Did you leave them in the die for more than a few seconds ?
Simple to post a photo and show how banged up they are.

Inquiring minds want to know.

The FL die size went pretty smoothly. I hit them just short of the shoulder. Then when I hit them with the SB die there was again normal tight brass pressure. I did move the shoulder at this point then when I went back with the expander and full size in the SB die it was pretty easy. The FL die first was the ticket

I never FL size then SB size. If you are getting dents on the shoulder from sizing, you have too much lube on the shoulder area. Once the dents show up, there will be residual lube inside the die that will still cause the shoulder dent. Clean the die to eliminate the excess lube out. When lubing the case, be sure there is not excessive lube on the shoulder area of the case, I usually use my fingers to wipe that area and keep an old towel handy to wipe my fingers on. If the case is difficult to lever into the die, there's not enough lube on the side of the case.
