Old sleeved Remingtons

I’ve got a a couple of old sleeved LA Remingtons that I’m thinking about trying to get apart. Has anyone done this? Were they typically glued in? Maybe some heat?

Help

I have a Shilen sleeved XP100 which was built in 1973. It is kind of a nostalgia piece for me. It was my Dad's rifle and was built by the man who gave me the foundation upon which I built my gunsmithing career. Anyway, it's my plan to remove and re-install the sleeve, and restore the old rifle. I think Art (the original 'smith) usually turned actions he sleeved, so I'll see what comes out. I'll try a heat gun to start with. WH

I use a 20 ton automotive press and a shortened barrel. Heat it up and press it out. Careful use of an acetylene torch makes it quick work.

I've been racking my brain to remember the fellows in TX I believe that were big on sleeved Remingtons. I contacted them once probably close to 20 years ago about removing a sleeve, cause I had one that had slipped and the bolt handle was against the stock. They said to use an old barrel, heat the sleeve and pound the barrel on a piece of wood to work it off. It was tough to get it started but it finally came off.
