Any reports of accuracy for the Mannlicher Schoenauer carbines? 1-1/2 moa? 3-4 moa? It'd be a shame if such a classy piece was all show and no go.

I owned a M/S carbine MCA 61 in 7x57, full-length stock of course, double-set triggers, it was in absolutely pristine condition, it was one the most beautiful, easiest handling rifle I ever owned. I ended up selling it because it was just too nice to hunt with and at that time of my life owning multiple firearms was just not a financial option.
Accuracy - I did shoot it a lot though and it would group 3 shots into 1-1/2" to 2" at 100 yards with my best handloads. Certainly not benchrest accuracy but more than adequate for a hunting rifle. In my experience of one if you are expecting benchrest accuracy from one you will lilkely be disappointed, if it is for pride of ownership you will likely be satisfied.

If we're being honest, my longest shot on a game animal occurred last week. A whitetail doe at 90 yards. Pride of ownership and quips of "what is that" from folks who don't know there's a whole world of guns beyond Remington, Winchester, and Browning.

The M-S carbines were created for Ibex and Chamois both of which are hunted in the Alps. The rifles had to be light and accurate enough. 1-2MOA was plenty.

1.5"ish at 100yds is the best I can wring out of mine. And its not easy to do, really have to bear down and lean in on that little sucker. Striker assembly is huge, with a long travel, and really jiggles that dinky 6Lb rifle. Lock time is measured in dog years compared to modern actions. Double set trigger is sweet though.

Here's a Swedish 1896 Mauser sporter (Oberndorf 1900) that I bought on GB 5-6 years ago. It sits in a Reinhard Fajen stock that is very comfortable to shoot. It is one of the original 40,000 or so that were built in Germany with Swedish steel before the machinery could be installed in Sweden.

In early 1976 I bought a custom rifle from the estate of a Doctor who had hunted all over the world. His wife had no idea what his guns were worth so she had the local Sporting Goods Store sell his rifles on commission for her. My rifle was built on a Mauser Model 98 action with a little engraving and very fine checkering. It had a very narrow forend and a Lyman Receiver Sight. It was in 257 Roberts. The stock was perfect for iron sights but when I put a scope on it it was hard to get a good cheek weld. Because nobody knew what a 257 Roberts was and everyone was hot for 243 Winchesters I got it for $135.00 along with 2 boxes of Remington 117 gr softpoints. I added sling swivels and an engraved Redfield scope base and hunted deer and antalope with it for years. I finally sold it to a friend for $500.00 and he still hunts with it. My best load with Nosler 110 gr Acubonds grouped about 1.5 MOA, but it got the job done. These are the only pictures I have of it.
