Old Age, New Trident Rest

But with the bigger case I can include either a container of ammo or still have room for the Garmin.
That’s what I am going to do…. Add my Garmin to the rest case to cut down on the number of cases I carry around.

I have too much stuff so the ammo, rear bag, garmin, etc goes in another box.I like the fact that the Trident breaks down and can fit in a smaller more compact case. It didn't hurt that the Apache cases were or still are 30% off.

Mine was delivered a few days ago. It is a beautifully made thing, that, as Carl says, is unexpectedly light. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but hope to get it running soon. Very stable on the kitchen table. :)

Thanks for the information, I'm guessing I got a bit of a wait then.
Since this rest is a brother to the SEB I can hope that the wait will not be on the order of the wait time for a Neo X…
Since these rests are made in Indonesia, does the price you pay include the “Big Beautiful Tarif” or will you have to pay that once it lands in the USA?

The price includes all shipping and tariffs to your door.

One price…no surprises…no worries. It shows up to your door in a very well packaged box.

I hope no other shooters make you FEEL like a nuisance.

They can HELP you if they need the bench.

I'd certainly not mind helping someone at all. Actually would be a welcome thing to be able to help.

I usually don't offer simply because many get upset when you do. I guess they feel 'weak' when someone sees them struggle. I'm only 72 and I know my strength isn't anywhere near what it used to be. Took a few years for me to accept help from people when doing what I used to consider 'easy' tasks.

Now days the wife and I joke about being treated as the 'old' folks. People holding doors open for us, offering a hand when there is a large step up or large items in a shopping cart.

I ordered the NEO X BR and the BBT (big beautiful tariff) was <$150 I think, ordered a press from Germany and BBT was $599.90!! OUCH! Had I know that would not have ordered.

Thanks to Jason Mayers who's the official dealer of SEB and Lionworks in Australia, last week I had my first chance ever to shoot both F-open and FTR at 1000yds with the Australian National F-class team who graciously lent me their gears.

Incredibly fun time learning from some of the best shooters in the world who were practicing their team match strategy.

I used this chance to try first hand an upgrade I made to the Trident front rest. I installed the leg extension kit I previously made for the AR250 and the rest felt rock solid during my shoot. This made me confident enough to now officially offer an F-open version of Trident which comes with the leg extension. The extra footprint and added perimeter weights were very effective in dampening the recoil force.

There are now two types of Trident, the standard still meant for benchrest centerfire and an F-open version which comes with the leg extension.

Though I am currently out of stock for all my rests, preorders are open for my next batch which I can hopefully finish by late April or early May. https://lionworksengineering.com/products/trident

For those who have already purchased a standard Trident with the intention of shooting F-open, I will offer a discount and free shipping for the leg extension kit so you can shoot with the rest properly.

Unfortunately during my test I had to shoot with the front bags empty as I forgot to fill it with sand and there wasn't any on the range so the side bags were getting squished as the rifle recoils. I hope I will have the chance to shoot more F-class in the future as it's not possible to do it in Indonesia where I live.

Tariff for mine was $77 paid before delivery charged separately by the govt. from the rest. All done online with a cc.

Just received my Trident rest. It is really nice, but not a fan of the plastic collet that is used to attach the arm to the post stud. Mine seems to come out when removing the arm for storage. Anyone having similar issues? If you replaced the plastic piece with some other collet, please let me know what worked. Thanks!

Over the past couple of years, having just clicked off birthday No. 82, I have felt like a nuisance at matches. My hearing is down to like 40%, the hearing aids don't respond well with ear protection, and that damned rest is so heavy I hate to move it. Having to clear the bench between relays, then set up the equipment on my relay with a front rest that tickles 42 lbs. is more than I care contend with. Recently I have addressed that problem. I went searching for a lighter rest, while it seems most shooters are looking for heavier rests. I've shot with a variety of rests over the last 20 years, some light and some heavy, and I've never had a rest move because it was too light. What I found in my search was SEB's new AR250 which was designed for rimfire shooting. From his site, I found his son's site and he actually makes the AR250 plus a new upgrade to it called the Trident.

The minute I saw the Trident (https://lionworksengineering.com/products/trident), I knew it was my answer since I don't believe God is going to take away the years. The Trident is an adaptation of the AR250 with a redesigned front crosspiece. The rest has an unusual adjustment arrangement, but once I used it I found it to be ingenious and well thought out. Above all, for me, it weighs 9-lbs. 5-oz. ready to shoot. The steadiness is there, the tracking is fabulous, and everything does what it's supposed to. The 3-pc. top is adjustable from 4" down to about a thumb's width and very solid. The joystick and counterweight are feather-light and adjustable to the nth degree.

I'm attaching a few pictures for your edification.
That's a quality, good looking rest. Adapt and overcome.

Danny
