offset scope mount

I am a right-handed shooter and the vision in my right eye is damaged has anyone used an offset scope mount to move the scope in front of your left eye I see Hart riffles offer one of these just curious if anyone has tried this

I used offset mounts for a two-year period. A second neck surgery left me unable to lean my head enough for proper eye relief and sight picture. I am also a right-handed shooter, but my reason was NOT related to a vision issue, like you.

Another possible difference from your situation is that I used the offset mounts for rimfire BR (50 and 100 yards) because I had to also reduce the recoil after the surgery

Anyway........ my experience was not ideal because there was no reference for repeatable head position for repeatable sight picture. I am a MR and LR shooter and have always used my beard hair just touching the same area of the butt stock as a point for repeatable sight picture, parallax, and eye relief. That was impossible with my head after the offsets. The other issue I think you may have is the amount of offset will affect the windage tangent as the distance increases. At the shorter distances that I shot rimfire at , this tangent was more manageable, but at 600 yards and beyond that will be quite significant.

I know shooters that have struggled with offset mounts for those two reasons, and have taught themselves to shoot with their left eye using the same right-handed rifle and conventional rings. You can do it with a LOT of practice, and moving your entire body position more behind the rifle. Or, you can throw a lot of money at it by changing to a left bolt, reworking your stock, sitting on the other side of the bench, and rewiring your muscle memory.

I am thankful that my range of motion recovered, and I didn't have to make those choices. Good luck.

I have the same problem. I bit the bullet, and switched to shooting left handed. I operate the bolt with my right hand and pull the trigger with my left hand. It takes a while to get comfortable with the left handed seating and holding, but it gets better with time.
Don't forget to readjust your eyepiece on the scope with your left eye, for the correct focus of the reticle. Your eyes are different, and the parallax can open your groups if not focused correctly.
