Official Gun Pix 'Pride & Joy' Thread

Here's a stock I carved up over the past year or so. I found this piece of wood as a return at a lumber yard about 7-8 years ago. I asked the guy in the yard about it and he said it had been returned because it had too much figure for the job the customer was working on. First thing I thought was, That would make a nice stock. finally got around to finishing it a couple months ago.

I fit it around a 1917 Enfield in 338 WM that I purchased a while back. I usually do all the work on the receiver and barrel, but this one was done up in an OK fashion already. Just had to repair a botched bolt handle job on it.

Picked up my new PPC today. Borden B action, Roy Hunter stock, Lederer 14 twist barrel with a Loker tuner, Jewell trigger, NF 42x44 Competition, BAT rings and trigger guard. Smithed by Dave Bruno.

Just Curious...LV? Paulownia? Pillared? Screwed and Glued? Looks like a Million Bucks!!!

Thanks man.

You have a good eye. That is Paulownia wood. It's a LV gun. The stock came in at 18 ounces so Bruno didn't have any problems getting it to make weight. Action is glued. No pillars or screws.

I'm happy with how it turned out. I like how the black accents in the wood are working with the other black parts. Dave suggested it.

I like the Loading Port Side swirl figure in the wood. One of a kind and yours alone!!! 2 Thumbs Up!

I made a time lapse video of this stock being made. I'm no Doan Trevor or Joel Russo, but it was only my first stock carved by hand! Maybe someday! Hope this is OK on this thread!

Got my zero for new Bartlein barrel at 300 yards.

The rifle came in overweight by approx 6 ozs. change to a MPOD and thinner recoil pad
and now it weights in at 17 lbs 10 ozs.

Will -- I like that mat you have. Looks like it has some horizontal stiffeners so it stays flat. Who makes that mat. Also, what is the brand of rear bag. I like the carry handle.
