Official Gun Pix 'Pride & Joy' Thread

Here is a few pictures of my two BAT action guns. My first Bat is a SV with a 14 twist 6mm BR barrel. I made the stock and put the gun together with the exception of chambering the barrel. My second gun is a BAT B action and it has a straight contour 12 twist barrel. I installed a 1.5 lb weight in the buttstock. Both stocks were made from a walnut tree that I had cut down on my property. I really like the quality of the BAT actions.

Remmy action
Kreiger 1:8 twist, 1.25" straight taper for 28"
B.O. base with 20 moa
B.O. lug
Jewell hvr set at 2 oz
Kiff knob and trigger guard
Joell Russo MBR stock finished in auto clear
Scope is a temp until I receive my SIII 8-32

Special thanks to Joell Russo, besides his excellent customer service, I have talked to him numerous times after I have received the stock about the shooting industry in general. He has a wealth of info and always has time to share.

Here is my BAT/Leonard switch barrel with 6PPC, 6XC, and 6Dasher barrels. The scope is a Leupold in Bukys mounts. The second rifle is a SAKO Vixen with California English walnut. It is chambered for the .223 and has a 3X-10X Docter scope.I stocked this rifle almost thirty years ago. James

I expected a lot when I asked Richard to build this gun, and believe me; I got more than I expected!! I am not a machinist, nor am I an engineer, but I can tell you for certain that this is the finest quality work you can expect from a gun builder. If you have any questions about that please feel free to call me or e-mail me.

As you can imagine, my reason for building this gun was for long range varminting. I had read articles about the flat-shooting 300 WSM VARMINTER on this site, and how it could launch a projectile at over 4000fps with great accuracy. I also read some of the brutal articles on other sites from the nay-sayers. So, I had to have one. Simply put,,, THEY ARE WRONG!! You can launch a 125gr Ballistic Tip bullet over 4000fps and terrorize those little fury creatures way far away.

I love this thing!! Think I'll ask Richard to build me another!!

Still working on load development, but so far so good. Have shot exactly 50 rounds through it. Got two 100 yard groups in the high teens; one with Sierra 70 grain match bullets and another with Nosler 70 grain ballistic tips. Both loads were with N133 powder. Other load development groups have been in the .2s and 3s, with a couple in the .4s. Next up is H322 powder, and have added some Berger 68 grain match bullets to try as well.

Just got my 6BR from the smith (Jack Lyons). It's used, but with a fresh barrel.

Built for 1k bench rest, light gun class... we'll see how I can do at Williamsport this year?
