Off topic Dogs Let's see your pets

She comes home next Friday, selected her name before I even found a breeder. Meet Brandy, it will be a joy training her.

So, @PhilC , given that it's a month on, how's Brandy's introduction to the crazy life coming along? Learned to pee in the correct spot, not to tear up the flowers, not to "nip" anybody, etc.? She's probably growing like a weed, too. Pics, pics, pics, if you've got 'em.

She's doing great! Learned to pee and poop where she's supposed to very quickly. Like a lab, she is food motivated and had to hold her back from her food bowl. Pushed her back from the bowl and put her in a sitting position and held her then said "Ok" before letting her go. 2 days later she sat on her own and waited for me to motion and say "Ok" before moving. Same thing for potty treats, 2 days and she sat without command. She's now learning to shake, another day or so and she'll have that down.

Take her for long walks on our property, a loop is 600yds and she did that at the end of her first week. Yesterday I stretched it to 2600yds round trip and didn't faze her a bit. She, and I, get 2 walks per day. LOL.

Vet visit Wed she weighed 18lbs and got her second set of shots which made her pretty mellow that afternoon.

These were at our lake place 10days ago, just love her chestnut eye color, very unusual for a lab. She snoozed while I watched deer in the front yard. :)

Great thread, lots of Happy dogs and cats!

Driving home a year ago in a rainstorm I saw a dog running around the highway near our turn off. I tried to get him but he wasn’t having it. I told my wife about him and she went out looking for him the next day, she eventually found his hideout which was an old brush pile where he could get up and out of the reach of coyotes, we have a lot of coyotes here. He wouldn’t let her get close and would sit out a 100 yards or so while she would leave him food and water daily. He was skinny and hungry, after two weeks he would get closer to her and she would talk to him, he finally let her pet him. He followed her home, about a mile away the next day and barked at the front door until she let him in. The rest is history, he’s become part of the family. We weren’t waiting to get dogs until we had more time and this little guy, Cheeto, has made it hard for her to leave the house like she use to but it’s worked out ok. I have never seen a dog so devoted to someone and I grew up around dogs, cow dogs on a ranch which are very devoted to their owners, most of the time anyways.

I would guess him at 4-5 years old. He was definitely from a home but he would tuck his tail and cower if you raised your hand in any way. He was obviously from a shitty circumstance. Over the last year he has come out of his shell, when I‘m home I walk with him and my wife twice a day and he’s a lot of fun. The timing wasn’t good but he found a forever home and is a welcome addition. I’m his second favorite but it’s a distance second, he follows my wife everywhere, attached at the hip so to speak.

He is about 7 years old, very attached to me, and about 95% house-broken. Name's Rafi.
