NY loosing 2000 jobs > Alabama

Remington is not leaving New York at this time.
They do not want to lose the 2nd and 3rd generation of rifle builders{smiths } and well qualified labor at Remington in Illion.
They did however decide to add jobs at a different location . Remington is one of the bigest supporters of repealing the new safe act.
A statement was released to the press , saying that Remington was not leaving New York.
We all know how that goes but for now Remington is staying in New York building AR platforms. and rifles.
That statement was released to the Syracuse New papers. By the head of managment

This is what I received today, under the Remington letterhead...

"Remington, one of the world’s largest gun manufacturers, will on Monday join Gov. Robert Bentley (R) to announce they are bringing over 2,000 jobs to Alabama.

Most of the jobs will be relocated from their Ilion, NY plant, and the initial investment in Alabama will be $87 million.

Founded in 1816 in upstate New York, the company is one of the nation’s oldest continuously operating manufacturers. Remington is the only U.S. manufacturer of both firearms and ammunition products and one of the largest domestic producers of shotguns and rifles.

Remington first began considering new locations after the New York legislature passed the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act in response to the tragic shootings in Newtown, Conn. It broadened the definition of so-called “assault weapons” to include a wide range of guns, including the Bushmaster, which was being manufactured at Remington’s New York plant.

A month ago Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) said “extreme conservatives” who are “right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay,” have “no place in the state of New York.”

Gov. Bentley responded “In Alabama we strongly support and uphold our great U.S. Constitution on which our nation and our states were founded.

“The Constitution serves to protect individual freedoms. Among them are those guaranteed in the Second Amendment, which protects the right of the people to keep and bear Arms. We will protect the freedoms of individuals and welcome any one or any company to Alabama to discover as so many have, that we are a pro-business state filled with good, hardworking people.

“If Gov. Cuomo doesn’t want hard working pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment people in his state, we will gladly take them here in Alabama.”

They can take the skilled labor they need, and leave the dead wood behind.

I guess time will tell us which will happen. Speculating here does nothing.

We need senator mike nozollio in ny to sponser a bill for a recall of a govenor. We have no recall here in ny.

BUT they reserve the right to move at a later date when they find that labor is as good, and labor is cheaper, and profits go up, and the guns still look the same, and NY suks...

The only way we can beat the unSAFE act and future gun restrictions is if we get out and vote! We had voter registration forms at the table I was at during the gun rally and two people at most took one, now I hope that is because there already registered..It was fun to hear the hype and everyone beating there chest, But that is what it is if you don't get out and vote.. One of our speakers asked Sheriff Moss if he could Deputize everyone present if government tried an unconstitutional gun grab, He answered legally he could, the speaker replied that he has been training federal LEO's for years and he would train everyone for free..I have been to a small grievance about property taxes where I think the town had 140-150 folks that actually voted and at the grievance there was 150 mad people wondering what the heck is going on with there assessments.. Same BS with gun owners in NY, 4 million and change of registered voters and 6 million gun owners wondering WTF! Crazy in my opinion :o

Remington is saying one thing in New York and another in Alabama.''
Read the statement in the New York papers, by Remington.
They will be around for a while until they get settled, as usual by big corporation they send mixed messages and smoke screens.
Remington hasen't been the same since it left Dupont''
Big changes over the years' Now its owned by a group, maybe for the better, maybe not.

where ever they settle I wish them luck. If things keep going this way maybe the future for Remington, will be
the south, then maybe Mexico or China. Blame it on BIG Government

JRS,

Not speaking for Raythemanro, but what I gathered reading the link he posted was just that...satire...an article written in today's "PC Speak" about events at Concorde.

Basically a 1984 sih re-telling of our history, as it would be reported today, to the masses, by the newspeakers.

Time to dust off the history books and the Federalist papers. Tie to really re-think our government

Tech Company Offers $1.082 Billion for Remington!!! If Remington sells to the company trying to make smart guns we would have to boycott them..Once somebody can mass produce them you start seeing laws to that effect..Hell, Then the government could just shut them off when they wanted.

I read somewhere a couple of years ago that Rem was bought out by some bigger outfit that went back to Geo Soros money....who knows??
