NY loosing 2000 jobs > Alabama

I'll ad my 2 cents. I was born and raised in Michigan. I left after the liberals made it too hard for a working man to earn a living. I was a technician at a Chevy dealer and could not make 40k a year, just no work. So I moved to Florida because I had some family there. It was better, but it was not a good fit for me. To much money and too many yankees! There is an arrogance that comes with yankees and liberals. So I moved to the last best place, and love it. No liberals, no crime, no gang bangers, there are some Califruities but no where is perfect. You vote with your wallet! If you live in a liberal state you are funding liberals with your tax dollars! Either talk the talk or walk the walk.

No liberals? You must not have been to Missoula lately. ;D

God bless Alabama.

It's remarkable that you would say that! Because...inscribed on our licence plates here in Alabama, we have a choice of either the phrase "God bless Alabama" or "Sweet Home Alabama". I used the former for many years before the state decided to recognize military retirees via their auto tags, and my Alabama tag now states "US Armed Forces Retired--Army".

I just hope Remington is going to crank out more 22s in Alabama. Does anyone know what they plan to make there.

I am very happy to see Alabama encourage employment. I am very happy to see they will work with firearm manufactures. This country has many great traditions and people, we can't forget that.

This is pure speculation but Remington made it official today that this will be there next plant (former Chrysler plant) and within 10 years will be full tilt with there stated 2000 employed...Now my guess is 1300 employees in NY + 2000 in Alabama is probably not gonna happen. My guess is 700+ until there up in running and down goes there NY operations and Remington is operated out of Alabama..No down time and once operations in Alabama are zipping along then NY will get offered to relocate..

And it's 2000 taxpaying jobs that the NY Governor can't touch for whatever his agendas are.....

Butch, The Huntsville paper the ,Huntsville Times, has not addressed this part of the new plant I do not believe, maybe you saw it somewhere else.

What was said today was at the Huntsville City Council Meeting were the CEO of Remington was there. In that meeting it was plainly stated that the use of the Alabama plant would be for "All of there operations" including, Manufacturing, New Product Development, Training,Commercial, Military, and Law Enforcement business's. The above were all mentioned specifically and separately.

I am not surprised by this move by Remington at all, and the question would not be why? But why not? considering the political atmosphere in New York. It is like they want to discourage business's of a certain type or kind in that state. That's fine with me, here in Alabama we will take as many of these companys as we can get...

Do you think Remington would be opening a new plant in Alabama if New York had cheaper labor than Alabama? The reality is the decision was more likely based on potential corporate profits.
I just did a little digging on this issue. The State of Alabama, some counties and cities are putting up just short of 70 million dollars to get Remington to come to Huntsville. Remington according to their ceo is not closing their NY plant. They are just another large corporation, they just happen to be in the gun business. Barlow

Doing some reading today. Remington is doing a major expansion of its Lonoke, Arkansas facility even adding a new building. It is my understanding this is an ammunition manufacturing facility. New additions to the facility should be fully productive in the 2nd quarter of this year. Hopefully they will be cranking out 22s.

As a disgusted voting Yankee with many like minded friends here on the southern tier of upstate NY, I am not happy the "The Arms" is leaving but that is what they must do if they are to survive as a company. This governor is the worst I have ever seen...worse than his father, and he is the one to blame for forcing the move imop. There are 2 distinct groups of people here, them and us. We have a beautiful state too bad some liberals are now ruining it, not only our constitution has been violated with the Safe Act, now Comrade Cuomo wants to give inmates college educations in hopes they will be good boys when they get out ...WTF! My tax dollars educating inmates! And you watch, this guy will be running for president so everyone can enjoy him.

I just got my 29 day heat bill. Now mind you, we have had only three days of school in 3 months where kids went outside to play, because the temp was always below 20 F. My house was built in 1889. But my bill was $876. We have a "discounted" electric feed, due to being part of the production of electric, but after "PPA Adjustments, sales tax...blah blah" i am going broke just to keep from freezing. Add to that the whining and wailing of the libs about "greenhouse gases" and outdoor woodstoves, air quality, I am about ready to toss a couple of them in the stove for heat! >:(

Why is this related to our topic/? well, thoughts matter. Ideas matter. How you think leads to what you do. In our lovely Upstate NY we are suffering from a bunch of very poor ideas, rammed down our throats by libs who "know better'.

It is very hard to live behind the lines.

When I think of my income, the old nursary rhyme "there is a hole in the bucket, dear Liza Dear Liza" comes to mind....

No wonder Remington moved. Impossible to still get good workers (the young are fleeing NY in droves), energy costs are crazy, cost of living due to taxes drives up housing and living costs, so wages must be higher, and then Uncle Andrew tells us all "we do not belong". Time to tell him where to go.

But as for me, i am taking my tax money and pension (ya, pension I earned!) and leaving.

Good for you Snert glad you are making the move. I live on the southern tier of NY and know winter very well, that is why we heat with coal, dirty and cheap like me. I will be escaping NY upon retirement to Pennsylvania in the next 10yrs providing that state isn't ruined by libs. My wife is from there and works in Pa as well, only 10 miles from home. There is a lot of us protesting the Safe act but we shall see.

I would bet if we started counting ballots by hand and pushed for voter ID a bunch of states would turn red! PA wouldn't take much and 100 districts in Philadelphia having zero Mitt votes is unbelievable to me..My heating bill has been ridiculous also, I have been praying for that global warming thing to kick in..If Governor Adolf Cuomo has his way with pushing conservatives out of NY who will be left to pay for the entitlements?

No need to pay for anything! Just run up the debt ceiling! That way you can buy more time to pass stupid laws that make everyone helpless and dependant, so we can all become part of the collective.

I just want a free phone! :o
