NY Attorney General vs NRA

These are my suggestions for the current NRA Board of Directors to try and limit the damages and hopefully save the NRA for future generations.
1 Suspend without pay the 4 individuals identified by the NY AG.
2 As soon as possible release the results of the 2020 BOD election and seat the new BOD.
3 Establish a select committee of the BOD to investigate the NY AG allegations and find the facts.
4 Keep all NRA members fully informed on the progress and findings of this investigation.
5 If the facts show these 4 individuals have committed crimes, poor judgment, questionable actions etc. punish the person up to firing them.
6 Any evidence discovered by the committee of the BOD must be shared by the BOD with the Membership and the public.
7 Appoint an acting Executive VP and reassure the NRA staff and Membership that the NRA will continue to function.
8 Get control of the NRA's finances, stop the bleeding.
9 As much as finances allow continue to support the Second Amendment and it's political supporters.
10 Reassure our friends in the industry, politically and the public that the BOD is in control and determined to make any necessary changes.
11 Establish any necessary checks and balances to prevent this from ever happening again.
12 Consider and submit to the Membership any bylaw changes to streamline the NRA, make it more responsive, and better able to cope with the
ever changing social and political climate of the USA, including a smaller BOD, secure finances, better public relations, and possible Corporate
relocation.
As Einstein said, "Continuing to do the same thing and expecting different results, is madness".
Other suggestions and/or discussion are welcome.

Boltman , are you a Lawyer ? ....... well done on your constructive Plan . For others ..... I don't see anyone here trying to destroy the NRA . They want to FIX it ! Being 35 M $ in Debt ......how effective can the NRA be in November ? From what I have heard from NY Lawyers : the NY AG has as much chance of destroying / disbanding the NRA as Biden has of becoming President . Per Ben F. : "We must all hang together , or most assuredly , we shall all hang separately " .

They've laid off or furloughed more than 200 people this year, cut pay, shortened work weeks etc. Their legal bills are about to soar. Big fund raising events have been cancelled due to COVID. A key supplier of funding is also charged with fraud. They're basically insolvent/bankrupt. The management team is accused of fraud.

They're in need of a rather large emergency funding raise. Who's willing to contribute the funds (10s of millions) needed in very short order? They could do an emergency appeal to the membership base but how many members would contribute immediately, for example, the equivalent of another year's membership dues so it can defend itself and management against this legal action? It may well be their only option. Wait for that email to hit your inbox, it can't be long in coming...

I no longer get their mail e or snail. It just stopped coming.

xring, no I'm not, but I have a brother, and 5 cousins who are. I do sit on 2 gun club BOD's and two others. The BOD must be willing and able to do it's job of management oversite and control or sooner or later things start to fall apart. The NRA BOD has become too large and complacent. It has failed the organization and it's members. Hopefully they can and will move to restore the NRA to it's rightful position and power. If not RIP.

The problem here is all the low information NRA members. Most think the NRA is there defending our 2nd Amendment rights. It couldn’t be farther from the truth. The NRA has always supported unconstitutional infringements on the 2nd Amendment going back to the original ‘34 firearms act which the NRA supported through today. The NRA has always been controlled opposition of the anti 2nd Amendment forces.

I wonder who Ollie North is talking to now ?? You can bet
he still has a bad taste in his mouth from the ousting not
long ago.....All I can say fellas is; This is more then a popcorn
moment !! Wings and beer I think, with a side of, kick him
in the nuts.

For those that did'nt know, Wayne was never a gun guy.
And prior to the NRA he wasn’t even a conservative.

What the NRA needs is a good house cleaning. We need them, they are still our biggest and strongest ally for the 2nd amendment!

GOA is also a great and cleanly run organization!

This is not a criminal charge it is a civil one, like Trump's charity, university and the NRA can not move to another state because the non profit origin was in New York. nilebartram

The NRA is hated because it is seen as a grossly irresponsible organization. It will now be hated even more because it will be seen as a grossly corrupt and irresponsible organization. I'd say it is pretty clear that senior "management" are going down one way or another - even if they avoid prison. Given the financial difficulties faced by the organization (and the accusations that the charitable side of the NRA has fraudulently helped finance the ailing organization) it's not at all clear that the organization will survive.

The big question is what will take its place and whether that organization, or new management of the current one, can retrieve credibility at a national level and hence represent our interests. When your representation is deemed to lack credibility, constructiveness and responsibility, they are eventually ignored and then we are all in trouble. That's what's happening now.
are you an NRA member?
