Numbskulls in AR15 online group

My bet is that commenter was as high as a kite. Arf.com and reddit stay away from anything thar has to do with reloading.

I agree, most of those
get off the ar forum get your info here on ACCShooter
type of AR sites and guys just full of it (know what I mean?) ask around on ACCShooter or the AR section on 204Ruger.com you will decent and honest answers and information.

Many , many ignorant people on other sites. I ventured out for some pistol (carbine) information and got scared by some of the stuff I read. This site is a Gem by all standards! The AR crowd is the wild west -- that's a fact. Not bashing the AR.

Don’t listen to those idiots!
But!!! Those are the wrong bullets to shoot in your AR because they’re TOO EXPENSIVE!
I tried these and they shoot great in three different ARs and two bolt guns. Save some of your hard earned money.

@joshb

When you say "shoots great", what kind of group sizes are you seeing?

I bought the RMR 69 back when they were 13 cents each and they shoot like a 13 cent bullet for me. In one of my rifles- with a 1:7 Remage setup, I can't get then to shoot under a minute. In another with a trued action and 1:8 Bartlein- just under a minute. That setup is easily a 1/2 MOA gun with other match bullets.

I've been shooting them out of my 1:7 AR at ~2MOA steel targets, from 200-600 yards, and they work fine for that. They fly way better than a 55 FMJ in the wind, but haven't produced what I can get with a 77 SMK or Custom Competition.

Can you please share your load data and results?

There is an abundant supply of uber-confident speakers and writers in this sport. Your job is to determine who has the knowledge to back it up. Frustrating at times, Funny at other times and you will be wrong about some folks sometimes. Just keep listening and learning and never forget you're dealing with 50,000 psi in front of your face. Makes it fun in a weird sort of way.

Got any pictures of "Valerie in the wild"? :)

You’re right. I should qualify. 1 1/2” to 2” groups at 100 out of a “factory” Rock River AR using a front rest and a Weaver T 36 scope . Typical PMC factory 69 Green tip shoots 2” to 4” groups out of the same gun, hence my use of “great” for AR ammo.
They shot better out of a Stag Varminter heavy barrel AR I have, but not as good as the Sierra 77s I’m getting low on. The Stag does better with most bullets.
I tried the RMR bullets when I was running low on Sierra 69s and wanted to load 1500 empty cases with some free CFE223 a friend gave me.
I just went to look for the targets and load data but I left them in Texas. I did find one target I shot using H335 in a Remington 5R . The center bull is 1”.

Many thanks!!

I have yet to get the 69 gr TMK's to shoot well in AR rifles that shoot sub MOA with 77 gr SMK's ahead of a reasonable charge of Varget. I suspect that the center of gravity is off somehow.

I have found the way to make 69’s shoot is to load them shorter. 2.235-2.240” I get .5-.75 moa in a 20” 1:7and 1:8 Service rifle with 23.9gr 8208 or 24.0 of H 4895. I have shot them out to 500 yards with the same results as 77’s.

Something else to consider. Fades, ideas, theories, and concepts can come and go and sometimes sound good on paper or on the social media screen; but experience, now that's something that can last and have true value because it has been tested, verified, and experienced.

This response is why I stay at AS. No BS. Just the facts, surrounded by context. Josh could have used terms like "all day" and "if I do my part" while displaying a shot up watermelon and claiming a 1000 yard shot, but he didn't.

So if I want to load cases with inexpensive substitute bullets for a stock AR that will shoot as good as my eyes and irons will do off the hood of my jeep, I know this would work great. And its valuable info. I also know I would not use the same for my 22 PPC. Well done Josh

reloading the wrong bullets
The AR15 magazine has a set COL requirement, unless single loading. The bullet is on the long side.

The tipped 69 gr Sierra are also long.
