Number of Firings

For those f-class shooters, what is the most firings you have had on your brass? I've heard of one guy getting 100 to 200 firings on his brass. Is it or how is it possible?

I used up 3 / .260.A.I. barrels on just 200 pieces of Lapua .260 L/R primer brass. Finally, I tossed the brass. However, I was running a "fairly stiff" (not TOO stiff) charge of RL-23 and eventually I started getting some leakage around about 10+ pct of the primers. That was enough for me to throw in the towel on that brass. I can't tell you how many loadings were on that brass but it was a bunch!

That about right 30 reloads each . Long way from 100 a far from 200 . Larry

Thank you guys! I know better than to believe the 100 to 200 reloads on a piece of brass. I was just proving a point to an internet keyboard warrior. He said that he has a friend that is a f-class record holder that has brass with 100 firings on them and has had some with 200. Which he then said was a club record!

I've reloaded 300 pieces of Winchester 308win brass 27 times and have not lost any yet.

Annealed them every 5 reloads.

In the past 3 reloads I noticed some of the primer pockets are looser than others but still good enough not to worry about it,.... yet.

I think when they put 1,000,000 rounds on that Glock a few years back they only used 30 pieces of brass, or something like that ;)

I've heard benchrest shooters talk about shooting 6PPC cases close to 100 times. Then mention that the ones the shoot in a fast node only last 3 or 4 times.

I ran 20 22-250 cases 20 or 30 times before I gave up. I did use 5 308win cases 50 times in my bolt gun. In both cases they were pretty light loads and I only neck sized them enough to just hold the bullet. I did anneal them a few times. I would set the shoulder back when they got hard to close the bolt on.

With a good chamber and a good load who knows how many reloads you can get. Follow the rules of my buddy and you get exactly one use from them. He is the guy who uses a 30-06 to get to 300WM velocities.

I know some Schutzen guys that have been using the same 2 pieces of brass for yrs.... FTR on the other hand I'm happy if I get 7 to 10.

I'm at 22 on my 6.5 Creed brass. Anneal every other firing. Still going strong. Correct die setup helps a lot! Mike A.

Not F class, but my first PPC barrel I wore out with 15 pieces of brass shooting a lower node.

Never annealed or full length sized. Put over 2000 rounds down that tube before retiring it, so each piece was loaded a minimum of 133 times. Was going to use them on the new barrel, but stuck with the new barrel/new brass mantra.

Larry's FOS per usual......
