Nuclear Coyote Rifles

I'm surprised 300g berger did that. its a pretty solid bullet. My best guess is that the initial yaw after impact was enough for it to tumble in the yote. good results however!

I have my 7mag loaded up with a 120vmax at 3550. I have not had the chance to "field test" it yet. :)
I shot a woodchuck once with my 7RM and 115 hornady at 3500. Hit him just below the front legs and vaporized him from there up. Sprayed the field five feet in front of him.

I have a buddy that regularly carries a 300 RUM. Granted he runs a high fence ranch and needs enough gun to put down a water buffalo, I still find it hilarious lobbing rounds that cost $3 a round at mangy coyotes.
Spending 3 bucks to get rid of a coyote that will eat any of his game animals it can is probably cheap in his eyes.

now if we could just get the hughes amendment from FPA84 repealed, I could start a belt-fed coyote thread. that would be epic. :)

"show me your MG3 coyote rigs!" :)
Mabie get an exception just for coyotes after they eat some of the senators wives pet poodles:D

Didn't intend to make a mess, just got bored while out elk hunting...

Did he run far after he was hit??;)

A 300wm launching 110vmax at 3800 fps can separate the cranium from the locomotion quite efficiently.
Yeah I bet -I want one of them and shoot them in the a-- so I don't have to skin them. Thanks for the tip:p

anyone here using a *Really* high powered, coyote rifle?

I'm thinking about range toys that are not for folks who want to save the pelts. Rather folks who want to shoot and skin a critter in one easy step.

30-378WB, 300dakota, 300RUM with 110/125Gn bullets....?

A friend of mine some years back was talking about building a 17 twist 50bmg with 450Gn frangible bullets, but I'm not sure I could find someone to make the bullets today. propellant might be an issue as well. H50BMG might be too slow...

forget the 50 .30/338 lapua 125 grain bullet red mist out to600 yds

I once shot a rabbit at close range (15 yds) with a 16 gauge , what a mess , look like the ninja blender went thru the middle:confused:

Don’t need a big caliber to blow up coyotes. Here’s what a 204 can do

Why do you need to see blood & guts to enjoy hunting. I would think must of the big calibers would pencil hole thru a coyote and expend 90% of the energy in the ground.

Gotta be some hellacious blast outta that sucker! Shooting that thing on a coyote stand might get ya ex-communicated

A 100gr, with a G1 of .357, @ 4K is some unbelievable ballistics!!!

The only cartridge I can think of that would shoot flatter would be certain .224 hotrod that moves a 75gr with a G1 of .425, at the same speed...;););)

I still love the 50Cal.

I decided to buy a 500SW lever gun (22" bighorn arms 89) and started loading 275G gold dots in it. the 1886 design is super strong as is, but when built out of 17-4PH it is the superman of lever guns.

the 275GD was intended for the 50AE, but when driven hard out of a 500SW with a long barrel, the velocities are quite surprising. this is another gun that is going to get field tested on a song dog!

bullets: unfired 275 on the left, 185g remnant from testing, fired 375G North fork bonded on the right (expanded dia .89, 373G retained). guns: M89 on left, Win 1886 on right (45-70)
