NRA takes on Pennsylvania Cities

NRA and another legal group from Houston, Tex are taking on Pennsylvania cities with illegal gun control laws. It's about time. Some of the cities have already recinded these illegal laws rather than litigate them. Hope they succeed and start a trend throughout the country. dedogs

And as usual, mayor Rick Gray of Lancaster is whining big time about the situation. He claims he's been a lawyer for 40 years and doesn't see anything wrong with the specific law the suit against Lancaster is about. Apparently, being in violation of a state law preempting localities from passing firearms legislation different from state law is a concept a lot of lawyers don't understand, especially Rick Gray, whiner supreme.

In the end local anti-gun laws are a win-win-win deal for mayors like Gray. If they push for them and they get passed, the politicians get to break their arms patting themselves on the back for pushing them. If they get defeated, they get to break their arms patting themselves on the back for trying unsuccessfully to get them passed, and most importantly, whether they get passed or not, those mayors get to break their arms patting themselves on the back for not passing any law that might increase the city budget - if they actually got something passed that would deal with CRIMINAL violence, that costs money to enforce and would need a tax increase (not that Rick Gray actually objects to tax increases ::) ).

What makes the current situation in PA unique is that for a number of years several cities and municipalities have gotten away with violating the state preemption law, but in the last session the legislature passed and the governor signed legislation that makes it possible for just about anyone to sue a jurisdiction in violation of the state preemption law, which will cause any municipality in violation to have to spend money to defend a case they will only loose. They are now, no pun intended, in our crosshairs, and they know it, and most are recinding their local laws. But Rick Gray will have Lancaster go to court anyway, wasting thousands of taxpayer dollars. But I live near York, so it doesn't effect me; and I'll get to listen to Rick Gray whine big time on the local news when some judge hands him his butt on a platter. ;D And Philadelphia, Pittsburg and Harrisburg will probably waste a lot of taxpayer money, too. So far cases have been filed or are being filed in Harrisburg, Philly and Lancaster that I know of. The list of jurisdictions that abandoned their local laws shortly after the legislation allowing individuals and organizations to sue over local laws is a lot longer. :o

Rick Gray, "Bow tie Boy" is a liberal POS! Murders are way up since he took office and on the other hand his predecessor, Charlie Smithgall, sells firearms from his Drug Store downtown! I hope they make the City pay!
