NRA Suspends Competitions

NRA Competitive Shooting
23 hrs ·

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NRA is unfortunately suspending all sanctioned matches through April 30, 2020. Any requests for sanctioning of new matches beyond April 30 are also suspended until further notice. As a result of this suspension, the NRA will no longer accept match fees or scores. The NRA will continue to monitor the situation and make additional statements as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds. Please contact the NRA Competitive Shooting Division at comphelp@nrahq.org or follow the NRA Competitive Shooting Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/nracompetitiveshooting or monitor https://competitions.nra.org.

The National Matches at Camp Perry are canceled for this year. That's posted on the Bulletin.

That's CMP, not NRA. Still no official word from the NRA for their XTC, MR, LR Nationals at Atterbury.
Jim,
Read this morning on the NRA web site the National Pistol, High Power and Smallbore Championship matches at Camp Atterbury have been cancelled for 2020 because of COVID-19. We have canceled four of our matches (April and May), and hope the rest of the year will be held.
Stay safe and healthy!

There is a fairly long thread over on the National Match board that was predicting this and what it ultimately means to NRA competitive shooting. (pretty much not good) Walt Walter (chairman of the NRA HP committee) started the thread there 12 days ago that noted that "competitive shooting division has two employees remaining. The rest have been furloughed".

Could you provide link to the referenced thread. I could not find it.

What would have been wrong with telling us via email that these matches are a go “subject to change” based on “then current local regulations and feasibility”? “Plan accordingly at your own discretion. Refunds allowed up to 7 days prior on request, or if canceled by us at any time.”

I am honestly taken aback that our sanctioning bodies seem less determined to hold matches, than our lawmakers are, to permit them to occur.

Not one of these annual championship cancellations has said that it is because the calendared match would probably or definitely violate a distancing rule.

Ever see an NBA player get fouled, and then somehow end up splayed out awkwardly all over the floor?

We are shooting guns for Pete’s sake. We are setting off explosions by our faces. We are handling “lead” according to our boxes. We are standing feet below a properly aimed shot and inches below a bad one. At a very bare minimum, we are slowly losing our hearing regardless of plugs and potentially putting our eyes out if we don’t wear goggles. And we are loving every minute of it. We DON’T need to be guaranteed absolute COVID safety, NRA, in order to pursue this passion, comprende?

Be careful Dave stating your opinion on this, here. Some people here are sheeple and don't know it!! According to these sheeple the government knows all and never lies to us!!. Be careful if you drink whiskey also because all of a sudden you will have whiskey muscles. Just stating my experiences when I posted a post something like yours about Camp Perry.;):(
Regardless I agree with you.
