NRA Saga Continues

You act like I am not aware of any of the things you have said here. Let's set one thing straight, you live in a state that restricts the things you mentioned, not I. I can shower up here in an hour, get dressed, and at 8am mountain time buy 10 or more firearms at once, clean any store out of 30rd AR mags, and as much ammo as I see fit.
Just because I said at times some of us wish some clown had never owned or had access to guns, does not make me an advocate of regulations or gun control, and I'd like to know just how you made that conclusion. Because it was a simple statement that I doubt I am alone in, in that train of thought.
I guess I'm the sort that doesn't buy into the perfect world mentality. Wishing for things that don't and won't exist invites the touchy feely crowd and is counter productive.. I wish people were armed and gun free zones didn't exist so that unarmed victims were no more.. Walk softly and carry a big stick.

Florida school shooting is a good example of why you can't always (if ever) count on law enforcement to get there..

When you make comments like you despise the NRA and wish for "perfect" world Utopia where bad people don't get guns I start thinking of our promises from big government.. Just saying, no offense meant.

Just where did I mention a utopia? Or that I wanted to live in one. Just because I have no use for the NRA today, does not mean I want gov intervention of any kind.
I came of age in the 70's, and 80's, the NRA was a force, and a dynamite org. Somewhere in the 90's it seems to me they wanted model their business after the red cross.
If I managed to pull down a 1.4 million dollar salary at any point in my life, I doubt I would ask for a 450K clothing allowance like wayne. I'd just buy my own underwear.
Do yourself a favor and quit taking what I say out of context, or read crap into it that was not said.

Wayne needs to go, NRA needs to be leaned out and more productive. Little to quick to sign on with Red Flag bills and Anti gun BS.. Yet throwing the NRA to the wolves and wishing that criminals be kind isn't productive, it's counter productive.. Whether you like it or not you need the NRA to be healthy.

This thread is about the NRA. My views:

The NRA is a corrupt ineffective, organization guided by overcompensated individuals who prioritize self aggrandizement over serving their members.

A large segment of the American public regards the NRA as the, "gun lobby" and holds the NRA in mild or greater contempt.

The 2013, post New Town, CT, interview with Wayne Lapierre and Chris Wallace was an example of enlarging our citizen's contempt for the NRA where Wallace gutted Lapierre like a fish in front of an audience of millions - the interview deteriorated into a series of shots by Wallace who assumed an attitude of superiority and contemptuously slammed at Lapierre who was made to look like the over compensated $ zillion head of some menace organization.

Large blocks of our American population just don't like guns and see no reason to own guns - ignorance of history is common. An attitude like, "you don't need an AR gun with a 30 bullet clip to hunt deer" is common.

I see thousands of humans in Venezuela have been killed by pro Maduro forces - the slaughtered might have been armed with kitchen knives and ax handles.

I am a life NRA member and have no intention of quitting (like Pappy Bush) but at this point the NRA really sucks. How about "a well regulated/run organization is needed to protect our 2nd Amendment and individual citizens against ignorance and deception promoted by big government."

Where in this post did I say anything about my willingness to compromise? NICS checks are the law of the land for the majority of purchases. I am a law abiding citizen, just because I said if I sell you a gun, paperwork will be done, you have assumed for some reason that I lack resolve in this matter.
I personally think even felons should be able to own 1 gun for the sole purpose of self defense, but then again we may have to revert back to the comment you quoted me on. In times where people use guns against defenseless persons, I sure as the hell do not wake up to the news and say, "I am proud to be gun owner". It's the exact opposite, after a quick prayer, I hang and shake my head and ask how did this looney slip through the cracks to give myself and 70 million(?) other gun owners another black eye.
You fight the fight the way you see fit, and I will do the same.

Maybe I misunderstood you. If I did, apologies tendered.

I am pretty hardcore about the Constitution and the BOR, and believe that we as a nation have allowed both our elected representatives and those we pay to petition them-NRA et al-to infringe, or allow infringement as compromise, for political expediency. All of our rights have been compromised over the last 80 years, and the process has only accelerated in the last 25 years, as technology has allowed it to. It will not be long now if the current trend continues that we will be at a point where we need to fight using the tools guaranteed to us by the Second Amendment, and we will have made it almost impossible to do so because of our compromises. I do not wish this to happen, and am very sensitive to anyone even hinting that we should do so. If I inadvertently included you in this, again, I apologize.

True, to create a new organized pro 2nd force isn't going to be easy.. Pushing back at the NRA until they clean house and restructure is more likely..

The NRA isn't just a lobbying force, the programs for shooting is just as useful to keep the youth and next generations involved..

I have zero problem with not rounding up at Midway until the NRA gets it's shit together.. Let them know you don't intend to support lavish lifestyles while our rights are being raped.. I just want to do it productively, not attaching each other and being counter productive..

The Libertarian Institute has a very good study on this. Unfortunately, when I try and upload it here I receive a message that the link doesn't have an allowed extension.

No idea why you’d get a message like that, but here’s a link to that essay you refer to.

This is something I became aware of a few years back, felt deserves much wider awareness than MSM and BigPharma have so far been willing to acknowledge. You think opioid addiction epidemic is a problem, the scale of SSRI dependence is exponentially larger.

And more on topic: I’m a Benefactor Life Member but none of my money gets sent to the NRA unless it’s part of fees paid for match entries I pay for.

Thanks for that. It is the one that I was trying to link. Hopefully many will read it and see the connection to the increase in mass shootings and other acts of otherwise inexplicable violent behavior.
