NRA Poised to Approve Suppressors in Competition?

Is anything over .30 caliber legal in NRA Long Range or F-class shooting?
Blair limit is .35cal in NRA and .30cal in CMP. Although ranges like Camp Perry and others are not allowing anything with the name magnum because of SDZs and stuff anymore.

To All:

Good news!

Late Saturday night, January 11, 2025, the NRA Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve the use of suppressors in High Power Rifle competitions conducted under the NRA High Power Rifle Rules in those jurisdictions in which the possession of suppressors by private individuals is legal.

Generally speaking, you may now use your suppressors in NRA High Power Rifle competition - where legal.

I guess we will see how many are on the line next month at SWN. With 90 rifles on the line at one time firing, I expect to hear a significant difference (not).:D

I won’t even consider one myself, for any gun, so long as they require an application.

I've used suppressors as a necessary tool, but I spent 44 years working with 2 federal agencies and I'm with you brother, no good reason to shine a light on yourself.

The rule does not apply to F-Class, only those rifles that fall within the NRA High Power Rifle Rules - in other words "sling".

F-Class has its own set of rules and its own rule book.

What about Mid-range AR Tactical? That class that is neither fish nor fowl.

Can you please explain the reasoning of separating the rule books. Other than different rules for rifle types (which exists in high-power with Any, Palma, Service, Match, etc.) everything else is the same other than say the 7 second delay and classification percentages. IMHO it seems like creating a separate rulebook was an answer in search of a problem.

snip. IMHO it seems like creating a separate rulebook was an answer in search of a problem.
It’s the NRA.

We did get a set of dedicated committee members out of the deal, who at least some(all) shoot f-class and are open to discussion/ask for input so that’s a bonus.

When you only get 700-800 rounds out of a 338 barrel, yeah they will care. That’s for ELR, FClass accuracy requirements could differ to lower numbers for barrel life. So again, is it?
People used to pull 6.5x284 barrels at like 1k rounds when it was more popular. AMU would at ~700.

It's "fish"----

Mid-Range AR Tactical is in the High Power Rule Book and is considered "High Power". It is NOT F-Class.

Therefore, suppressors will be allowed where legal under local law.

Unless the two shooters next to you are running cans, it is still loud to you. At the SWN the Palma and F-class shooters will not be using them, so no real change even it the any/any shooters run them.
