NRA Membership to purchase firearm

What if you had to be a registered, card carrying member of the Democratic Party to purchase a firearm. What would you think then?

I would not be able to buy a firearm, if NRA membership were required, I have been a member of the TSRA for close to
35 yrs. if you have a problem with the TSRA you can call em and talk to real people, not true with the NRA . about 15 yrs ago at renewal time I extended my membership for 5 yrs. six months later I started getting letters from the NRA stating that my membership was expired and i already had my new membership card. after several attempts at contacting the NRA about this problem [ which is or was at the time impossible to do, I sent my membership card back to them inside their last renewal notice. have not heard from them since and they still owe me 5 yrs. . So from now until the NRA gives me back my 5 yrs. I will give all my donations and membership to the Texas State Rifle Association

PS. I was a member of the NRA for about 25 yrs before this happened

I'm sure the money donated by many manufacturers and businesses are just factored in and you have payed it many times without knowing...whether you liked it or not

I applaud your willingness to discuss the issue and regardless of the intent, I disagree with you on the mechanism. Any time you force someone to be a member of anything in order to do something that we have a right to do, even for saintly reasons, it's wrong and begins a slippery slope to where? People should do things because they are the right thing to do, not because of regulation or force. It would be better to help expand the NRA's membership by encouraging your friends and family to join or contribute. You don't have to be a gun nut to belong. You just have to have a love and respect for the constitution. But thanks for your putting the proposal out there because they always lead to more discussion ........... a good thing
