NRA High Power Rule Books

The NRA no longer sells printed copies of their rule books. The rules are available only in electronic form. That may work for some Match Directors and some competitors but I would like to have a printed version somewhat similar to the old rule books. Is anyone making printed copies for themselves and if so would they like to share?

See if any of the high power competitors that went to Perry from your area still have theirs. They put a rule book in every competitor packet.

I checked with a friend who still goes to Perry each year and he says there was not a rule book in his packet this year and there has not been one in the packet for several years now.

Yesterday I printed the Jan 2016 version...selected booklet on print screen 2 sided...then just fold it in 1/2. I put 3 staples on the edge and works fine. It's not as nice as the old spiral bond ones, but it's fine. Small enough to throw into your range bag.

Years ago when I was using an IFR Chart Service, I finally bought pre-punched paper that fits the Jeppesens Chart Binders. Then started printing my own instrument charts. They are half sized sheets and print well and then perfectly fit in the binders. I have found them to work great for all sorts of on line manuals. Jeppesens still sells the paper and the binders are available in 1" and 3" in leather and in vinyl. They are pricey in Leather but nice.

Thanks, I will try that. Too bad the NRA has stopped publishing them. I wish we could make America great again.

OK, I tried that but muffed the reload of the paper to print the other side and got the pages scrambled. Now I have a useless pile of paper and my printer is out of ink. This is just too much technology for us knuckle dragging service rifle (M14) shooters. What would you take for your copy?

Chkunz,

The way the NRA posted the electronic version doesn't lend itself to printing into a nice fold over booklet. However it can be printed out two sided and stapled for an 8 1/2" x 11" version. I have a copy as such and it is yours, if you PM your address I will send it to you. If you want to buy one...try this link http://materials.nrahq.org/goaccessories/books/nra-high-power-rifle-rules.html this was not easy to find as it in now buried in their "Promotional Materials Center" under "ACCESSORIES" WTF?!

Cheers,
Jim

Jim, thanks. The link you provide is where I started. I ordered one but when I received it I found that it was one of the old versions. That is when I called NRA and asked WTF and was told that they were not publishing the booklets any more. Then I tried printing the electronic version and wound up with the 8 1/2 X 11 version like you did and that really does not fit my needs (like keeping a copy in my shooting stool) also the print is very small. Thanks again for your offer to help. I guess the next step would be to take the electronic file to a printer along with on old book and see if they can make booklets. I could have several copies made to give to others. I teach beginner high power classes and I have provided copies of the rule book for those folks and would like to find a way to continue to do that.

Mailing you a packet out today. Hope it's helpful !
Thanks. There is another thing that is disappointing, there are numerous typos that have been in the book for several years now and no one is cleaning them up. If I had the skills I would clean up the pdf file and print it and offer copies to folks at cost. I guess the NRA would claim that they would not be official but who cares, lead, follow or get out of the way.

Another point, learning the rules is an important part of the game. You can see in a lot of post on this forum that demonstrates that many folks do not know the rules and that causes a lot of confusion. Not having a rule book handy seems like will make matters worse. Or maybe the younger generation is perfectly comfortable with the rule book in electronic form and I am a dinosaur. I still shoot the M14 in competition and the competitors refer to my rifle as T-Rex.
