NRA for $20 per Year

I've been a "Benefactor" member for as long as I can remember. I've supported the NRA diners for a long time too. I've even got my name on the wall at Freedom Hall. Like most of you, learning about the misdeeds of a few was disheartening. However, we still need to band together in support of the 2A through our collective efforts.

Since the NRA doesn't ask me for money anymore, I donate to other 2A organizations.

I'm a life member from early 1990s, I don't receive the magazine or anything else. I guess they've lost the information on me.

Never helped us in NY!!!!!!!!!!!
That is absolutely correct - they screwed us royal. We could have gotten rid of the SAFE Act.
The NRA was "assisting" when NYRPA challenged it. There is a top notch woman 2A attorney in Rochester that wanted to help. They denied her. She observed the proceedings and saw that the NRA lawyers did not make the right arguments - "throwing" the case so they would lose and be able to appeal to SCOTUS, with no assurance the case would be taken up.
It wasn't.

However, I did sign up yesterday again after about 15 years because I am interested in RSO certification. Otherwise, for me it is GOA and 1791 Society (a NYS PAC). They are only on FB for legal reasons.

Got a call from the NRA today. Gave the poor lady an earful. She didn't deserve my diatribe but hopefully she'll pass it on. As least she said she would. The diatribe was the usual. We are about to be required to get a permit from government to exercise our constitutional right to purchase a firearm. Where is the NRA? Still buying suits and safari's for Wayne and his family?

If I weren't a life member I might not be a member at all. While the money grab by Sir Wayne was ongoing, many of the original benefits of life memberships were quietly dropped with no notice. The life insurance is gone. The firearms insurance is gone. Other perks are gone. BUT, Ol' Wayne didn't lose any of his perks along the way.

I would be an NRA member for one reason only.....to compete where it's mandatory that you have to be a member to do so.

I was wondering how they have survived since wayne was exposed. Could it be the reviews in the magazines for ammo, accessories and guns? Does that mean the same people that brought you $100 per thousand primers are bringing you the American Rifleman?

I just checked and was told they do not have a $18 special for renewals.
Then don't renew, just do new. I'd suggest the 5yr as it's $15/yr, but this has the $18/yr too

It's silly we have to play games with places like that but seems to be how they work these days.

That, happened to Me too,.. WHEN I Moved to, my New Home, across Town.
Call them with, YOUR New Address and the Magazine will start coming to,.. YOU,.. Again.

Was a member for over 35 years. Only thing they ever did for me was send out a crappy magazine full of 'pat-on-the-back' self praise and a never ending stream of pleas for even more money. Once I dropped them, I got a steady barrage of calls with offers and other b.s. Last call was from some idiot that proceeded to guilt trip me. Told him I was recording the call and would be sending it to the authorities for harassment. Never heard from them again and don't care to.

Yeah I don’t think I’m going to play games with them. Been a member for about 50 years and
I will contact them again and just tell them I will renew for $18 a year or will not renew.

Thanks for the info!

NRA = No Rights Anymore

A great big HELL NO! As far as i`m concerned, they`ve compromised way to much in the past with our rights!

HELL NO! Not even if i was paid to do it. There are FAR BETTER organizations that actually do something for our 2nd amendment! All the NRA does is cherry pick a couple fights every few decades, and then they move to another state to avoid prosecution's within their organization?

And i see so many comments in here where people are being extorted to give their money to the NRA just to join a club, or to shoot in competition's? Sorry, but that`s where i draw the EFFIN line with ANY club, or ANY competition.....HELL NO! You people that are being forced to do that need to step up and stop these places from such BS. It`s WRONG!!!

I invested in a life membership, and I regret it. It was a pile of money when I was really trying to start a family/house, and they said FU when Ii asked for help/plans to set up a range at a closed club. They did want the new club to pay for plans, ideas, suggestions. No courtesy at all.
Then there is the cluster way they treated silhouette competitors. Fees and basically no service.
Beyond corruption, I don't see what they have ever done. Scamming the world with politicians is not a good resume.

Being a member of the NRA is required as part of our Range membership. Other than that, not interested!!
And the American "Rifleman" magazine? Mostly handguns. :(
And the free gifts at sign up? MADE IN CHINA!!

This is actually the only reason I decided to rejoin after dropping them decades ago. All the private ranges here require NRA membership. That and when I retire I may wish to try competition, seems there's some advantages there too. Maybe. $75 for 5 years isn't a huge outlay so I did it and of course I'm hopeful they will get their financial act together too.

When there are criminal prosecution for the blatant theft and those who allowed it… I’ll be “pro” nra again… GOA gets my money.

Nobody "out in the world" is really too concerned about the GOA. The GOA is too small to get much notice from non firearms owners. You really need to belong to both and to try to effect a change for the better at the NRA. The damage that the French kid did is going to take determined effort to fix.
