Understood... I brought up costs only because I have participated in a sporting hobby that required great expenses for the best of the best equipment to consider being on the podium. Of course just the best equipment would not get you there but definitely required even if you had the most talent. In HP shooting the costs are there but the middle of the road equipment can get you to High Master classification or on top in a match with the proper preparation and skill. This is one of the great appeals of this sport to me. I think that a DR recognition puts one more goal to aim for (no pun intended) once one receives HM in their discipline. If anybody is genuinely confused confused I used 'rich get richer' as a metaphor for receiving multiple awards or recognitions for the same excellent performances. I never had actual money in mind at all.

The beauty of our sport is that it does not take the most expensive equipment to win. It takes the best judgement based on experience, meticulous detail to techniques and a lot of time; this is duly earned by dedication to the endeavor. You want to be in the top 10% and earn the DR Badge......then get out, do the work and be in the top ten.

Wow!!! You’re not going to win any elections talking like that.

I want to reopen this discussion with a few questions.
1. Do we know yet if, and where these points are being tracked?
2. Last year, FTR and F open were separate, it would appear that this year, they are not. How in the world is a FTR shooter supposed to get points competiting with F open?
3. Did this year's national's count towards these points? Not that I would have gotten them, but I heard no mention of it.
Bob - go here http://rulebooks.nra.org/documents/pdf/compete/RuleBooks/HPR/2018-hpr-book.pdf
and look at pages 82-84 for info.
Jay, I found that list early this spring. Unfortunately I can't remember where it was. I suck at internet searches so it could not have been hard. Not sure about anyone else, I do remember I was on the top of the list with 19 points. Should have gotten to 20 after Canada.
I did find out they have a new program for master coaches the other day tho! When I opened the package from the NRA there was a medal and a lapel pin. A very nice medal I might add. No explanation or certificate or anything else in the envelope. I had to ask a few people to find out what is was. Trudy Faye got one also and had no idea what it was for. As I understand it you need 40 pts to get one. All must come from nationals matches. 20 pts for first place in a match. Not agg just a match. Less pts for second and third. You need to win two matches etc. to get one. Found nothing on NRA website. Talked to Earl Liebetrau and James Crofts to find out. I guess it helps to know people! Otherwise you will be SOL until they call your name Jay! Maybe Larry Bart can tell us, he knows everything!
