NRA Classification

That's the same thing I did with the Memphis regional a couple of weeks ago. I booked a hotel with an indoor pool and took the whole family! Weekend vacation where I get to shoot is a WIN-WIN! The wife definitely wants to do it again!

Sorry I know this is really old thread...but...I'm new to F TR !! It's what the net retrieved.

So as I understand the system once you shoot 2 matches of 120 rounds your classified by the NRA. Your next match you could possibly go down or up in classification.... Is that correct ? I just received my second match result...The 1st was a 579x15 and the 2nd was a 573x15....this would put me in the expert class...correct?? This is with my 223 F TR mid range.

Thanks again

No, you do not go down in classification, except by request. The NRA says: [br]
19.16 Establishing Classification—A competitor will be classified when his scores for not less than 120 shots have been reported as prescribed, except that classification will not include tournament or league scores until after all scores for the tournament or league concerned have been reported. When his classification is assigned, he will be furnished an official classification card showing the effective date.
• 19.17 Reclassification—A competitor who has been classified by the NRA will be reclassified as follows:
(a) NRA Headquarters will record all scores which qualify for classification purposes according to Rule 19.4.
(b) A competitor will be considered for reclassification upward when his most recently reported scores, for not less than 240 shots (120 shots for Prone Classification), fired subsequent to the tournament date at which he earned his current classification, have been recorded prescribed, except that such consideration will not include tournament or league scores until after all scores for the tournament or league competition concerned have been recorded. If his average score so justifies, he will be reclassified upward accordingly.
(c) A competitor will be reclassified downward only upon request a request in writing by him to the NRA, and only on the basis of at least 320 shots (180 shots for Prone Classification) recorded as prescribed, fired subsequent to the effective date of his current classification. If his average on this basis so justifies he will be reclassified downward accordingly.
(d) If after reclassification downward, a competitor regains the classification thus vacated, he will not again be reclassified below the latter.
(e) A reclassified competitor will be provided a new Classification Card showing the effective date.

Dredged up an old one here.

I shot Smallbore Master class scores for 15 months before the NRA upped my classification.

I found it online last month. Still no classification card in the mail though.

Shoot your best, the NRA will catch up when they decide to . . . .

One thing everybody forgets is that to have the scores recorded by the NRA, they must be shot in an NRA approved or registered match. There are clubs that only register their big matches, leaving their monthly matches unrecorded.

until your scores are recorded by the NRA and an official classification has been rendered you will still be in Master Unclassified. once they record them and if you continue your average as noted you will be put into Expert.
