Classification question.

Yeah Keith, I think you mean my wife, Tina. I did not realize team matches counted towards individual scores either, but they do. She listens well, and pulls a trigger pretty good. Can't read wind very well and would never be able to shoot that high if I wasn't coaching her. She even called the NRA up to complain. She has never shot a long range individual match. The gal on the other end of the phone(at the NRA) told her "oh shut up". I thought that was kind of funny! I know she can get reclassified once, but I think she might be a little intimidated to shoot at high master level in a match, so she does not shoot.

My daughter also found out unfortunately that team matches count towards individual scores. She shot high master scores in FTR over the course of 2 days at 1000 yards earning her LR HM classification, then shot a team match later in the day that bumped her back down to Master. Doesn't make sense to me why they combine the two.

Another piece of trivia - If I recall correctly, it's the order in which the scores are posted that determines the classification, not in which they are shot. (I guess we can blame the league rules for that, which make no sense at all to me. Matches are matches.)

Ok. Just got my expert card in the mail. Let me see if I got this straight. My activity shows a 738/800 and a 781/800. If i were to shoot 3 more 781/800’s, would that bump me up to master? Or do I need 240 shots independent of the ones already figured into my class?

120 consecutive shots for record. If your next 60 shots for record and your last 60 shots for record average a master score, you will make master, assuming they were shot in single day matches. It is a rolling deal.

If you shoot a multi day match, however, it is different. The match is scored as an aggregate score. Whatever the agg was is what determines whether you shot master, expert, whatever. The last 60 shots in a multi day match won't be used in a rolling fashion with you next single 60 shot match.
