Sorry, I have to express a sense of sadness here.
I presume this was an April Fools Day joke, but it wasn’t one that I could immediately dismiss. It’s the history of NRA competition and the organization’s attitudes that makes me sad. Basically, I could talk myself into believing EITHER that this was a joking proposal from the NRA, OR that it was serious AND silly. Assuming E-Class was a real proposal, content like the final lines in the “rules” indicating that NRA wouldn’t recognize any classification above Marksman, because they
assumed no one could shoot any better than that with this equipment added a believable level of arrogance in support of NRA actually being the source. On the other hand, the likelihood of this being a joke highlights the ongoing failure of NRA to effectively create the opportunity for new membership through actually offering something like a factory rifle classification.
Either way, makes this a more effective April Fools Day joke, so kudos to
@Forum Boss! Still makes me sad that the believability of either option yet again highlights realities of NRA.
