Again, I ask, "Are all shooters as crazy as I"?
Two days a week at the ranges, another two days on hog patrol, one day making the rounds at the LGSs and Cabela's, the other two days in the reloading room, sanity questions aside, I have no trouble falling asleep. What about the "midnight hours" when you/I can't fall asleep? They're a good time to peruse the classifieds and new equipment reviews.![]()
Update: The JGS reamer is in. Also, I was lucky enough to squeeze out a victory with my old Dasher barrel in last Saturday's 600 yard match. I am hoping to shoot the new 6mmBR-AI barrel in the August 19th match. JamesView attachment 1015232 I have now got a new 8 twist barrel, a new Ezell tuner, paid for the chambering, and am completely BROKE. Also, I have a new Vortex 15X-60X Golden Eagle scope to test and am waiting on JGS for the reamer. I am almost 74 years old and I sure hope that this barrel in 6BRAI works out. It may be my last barrel. I will shoot my 6mm Dasher with Bartlein gain twist barrel in Saturday's 600 yard match. This barrel has been very good to me, but it is getting long in the tooth and I don't know if it can compete with the newer rigs on the line.

I was fortunate enough to watch James beat up on the shooters ,including myself,at the last 600 yd shoot. Personally,it would not really matter what James shoots,if your not careful,he will beat you up bad.I believe you could drill a hole down a broom handle and call it a dasher or brx or brai and he will beat you up.Update: The JGS reamer is in. Yes I saw that.See ya'll in October for the 600.Might see you in September for the 300.James did you hear ole Mr. Mock crying about ohhhh my dasher is long in the tooth and I am 74 years old... Really, go shoot against this man and see if any of the reasons he listed keeps him from winning... LOL I think the man could beat up on us with a crappin bb gun.. You know I love you Mr. Mock...
You can bet I will be there Lord willing and the creek don't rise.. I just want a piece of that wood you always seem to end up with... I loaded 100 just for the occasion..Scott and James, y'all are too kind and maybe misinformed. If you go back and look at some of the "chokes" that I have made on the last target of too many matches. I enjoy shooting and have been at it for a long time, but the youngsters are getting tougher to beat every match. The competition is getting tougher and tougher each match, and.....that is as it should be. August 19th is our next chance for fame and glory.![]()
Really like the Hawk hill 4 grove I'm running in my DasherAfter long consideration, I am going to use a new barrel instead of re-chambering the Dasher barrel. Now to find the barrel of my choice. My preference is for a Bartlein 4-groove .236, but they seem to be as scarce as Bigfoot. It seems that Bartlein is really committed to 5R and .237 bore. Does anyone know where I can find a HV .236 4-groove Bartlein that will finish at 28 inches. I know that I could order one from Bartlein, but the 600yd competition at the range where I shoot would be over for the year before I got it. Thanks, James
I just talked with Billy and my new barrel will not be ready by the August 19th match. I just cut it too close and Billy is going to the Nationals at Holton and he has to chamber a barrel for himself. Is that not typical.....a mechanic's car won't run; a carpenter's door steps are falling down; and a gunsmith doesn't have a barrel chambered to shoot.I may not get this barrel ready by the August 19th match, but I surely hope so. I am looking forward to testing this chambering along with Bart's fine 105gr. RBT bullets and Mike Ezell's new tuners. I am a novice at using a tuenerr with CF rifles, but Mike assures me that it is very simple to keep a barrel in tune. "Simple" is good...especially for me. Good shooting...James
