Now, the million dollar question regarding UPS and FedEx and licensed individuals

If ups and FedEx wants to play this game why not the businesses to USPS? I have shipped usps for years because we have no ups or FedEx depot's here. I have never had anything lost or damaged outside of a trigger shoe or two.
Alex, you're the lucky person. I have had two firearms lost by the post office in the last two years and two badly damaged, as in broken stocks. All very well packed in two boxes one inside the other and well bubble packed. No matter how much insurance you have claims are not paid off. And I'm not the only case around here. My recommendation is open a UPS or Fed-Ex account and align a credit card to it. Basically, they don't want to know what you're shipping as long as you take responsibility for it and ship per ATF rules. Ammo must have hazardous materials label.

Did you add your FFL to your account? I've been meaning to try this as well. I have my 03 FFL, but haven't figured out how to add it? Do you have to call?

I'm looking into my original question, but was just wondering if someone has already traveled this road. Thanks

This is straight from the UPS website:

UPS accepts packages containing Firearm Products for shipment only as a contractual service and only from Shippers who are licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, or licensed collectors (as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code) to authorized recipients, as outlined in the approved UPS agreement for the transportation of Firearm Products.

And from the United States Code:
The term "collector" means any person who acquires, holds, or disposes of firearms as curios or relics, as the Attorney General shall by regulation define, and the term "licensed collector" means any such person licensed under the provisions of this chapter.

The compliance on this issue is truly disturbing. The ATF now effectively controls who is allowed to ship. Even things they don't regulate.

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."

Nothing new under the sun -it isn't 'quite' the same thing as the founders were addressing, but the principles involved, and normal human behavior being what it is, they knew the answers.

Frank

I'm not sure that the founders could have envisioned a world where there was a small group of people that were so rich they could simply buy everything and then decide who gets to use there their "property" .

There is no need for government when every single thing is up for sale and there is no one to stop them. The government has been taken away from impeding the Monopoly. In fact the government encourages Monopoly. I don't think that the founders of this country would have imagined such a thing.

Can't say there was a place to add FFL info on the contract. I've had my account for a couple of years.

I don’t know what the big panic about shipping firearms. How do you think about how the distributors receive their products?

Consider a hypothetical.

Ups and FedEx make it mandatory to join their "firearm shippers" list to ship a firearm. They charge $100,000 a year to join the list.

This would effectively do what they did with Covid. Eliminate all the Mom and Pop businesses while massive corporations (who would be willing to pay the fee) are exempt from regulation and make record profits. Ultimately, grabbing control of the entire market.

The corporations in question are controlled by a handful of 100 trillion dollar investment firms.

A small handful of foreign investment firms could grab control of the entire firearms industry.

This could be done tomorrow.

My last package came USPS. But I'm sure they have an FFL.
As per one of my older posts on this issue.
I was told by a Fed-X and UPS Person . " If you have a Account Print a Label walk in Put your Packabe on the Counter ".

One reply No Insurance Coverage ?

Well if you read the entire thread you would realize that your counter person is misinformed. Per their policy you cannot ship firearm parts unless you have an FFL and a special account. Doesn't mean that you couldn't get away with it.
