Not quite ready to drink the kool aid....vudoo?

Are they really that good/better than the customs or annie's? Not so much talk of them on here as over on snipers hide. Any feedback?

The big draw to the Vudoo is it can be a copy of your centerfire PRS gun. It is a custom action. The others custom would shoot just as well. As far as just group, a custom, or Annie in a benchrest stock shot from a rest would most likely out shoot most anything. But if you took that benchrest gun to a 22 PRS match, it would not fair well. Vudoo has put together the best gun for NRL/PRS 22 matches.
Now if you are not looking to build a trainer, to match centerfire, other guns would work, CZ, Annie, Tikka T1X, etc.

I didn't receive mine until mid Aug last yr and between heat, wind and my health issues there were few days for testing ammo and breaking in a new rifle.Mike created his mag design and I believe had most of what he wanted to do receiver wise in his creative melon(think he has a lot of good ideas stored there):D What eventually came together from all those ideas and experiences is in my opinion one of the slickest looking, functioning and smoothest operating rimfire setups ever! From a receiver with a 700 footprint for stocks and triggers to an unheard of unique mag setup unlike anything on the market. With all this is a Lego 22 rimfire that does not utilize proprietary triggers, stocks and able to mount most near any kind of optics for the owner. This rifle can be purchased with more options than most any rimfire currently available. Can be set up for LR competitions, run and gun comps or squirrel hunting. No other current manufacturer can get you so much in such a short leade time that I am aware of?

So while some think the barreled action may be spendy you can purchase most all aftermarket items you wish to get it where you want for less money. No expensive proprietary stock that you have to wait a yr for, no expensive trigger assembly necessary unless you chose so, no expensive scope mounting hardware only made by the factory etc etc. Plus Mike is always developing/creating some new accessory/item to compliment what is already in production. In other words more new 'sprinkles' for that already huge bowl of your favorite ice cream. :D

Mike, Paul, Jay and Jill are super to deal with and IMO have done pretty darn good from everything I read at solving, fixing issues and/or answering pertinent questions concerning the Vudoo. Not to mention I think Mike B is one of the most unselfish super gentleman I have ever dealt with. I cannot thank him enough for helping me to own one of his brilliant creations. Just to be clear I am not butt kissing and am claiming this from 45yrs of firearms tinkering, mostly on 700 based projects. I just feel Mike and crew put all of the right pieces in the right places and designed new pieces to perfectly suit the entire project.

Forgot to mention.....If you read through the entire Vudoo thread on SH and been there for any length of time you will figure out that many of those praising the V22 are long time LR and/or competition shooters with yrs of experience either in a career of precision shooting or their favorite pastime. When gents like Rob01 or Nomad or a dozen or more others praise the V-22's abilities they aren't talking trash but talking from experience. Many very well accomplished rimfire guys also with yrs of experience. I haven't posted there in yrs but many of them were the ones to listen to back in 04 or so when I did. No smoke, just fact from most of them. IMO the best endorsements one could have for your products. They tell it like they see it. Of course not all of them but you know how the 'internet' posters work.lol

Hope this all makes sense, some times my short term memory issues makes my fingers and melon do and think stupid stuff! Long story short, I think what you get with a Vudoo compared to all others is cheap!!!

Thank You again to Mike Bush and the crew of Vudoo.

Respectfully,
Dennis

I'd had the hots for a really accurate .22RF repeater/trainer for some time when I first saw an ad on EuroOptics' website for a truly high-end RF trainer built around Stiller's 2500XR custom action. That really got the juices flowing, but I choked at the price - over $4k. Finally bought one of the Stiller actions and put a Krieger sendero contour bbl on it, and even managed to find an extra stock that Manners had made for the EO run of rifles, so I was into basically the same thing for quite a bit less money. Not long afterwards, I saw a post on the Hide about conversions of Rem 40X/XB actions to accept the 10rd mags that Mike Bush had designed. While I was happy with the function & accuracy of my Stiller, changing magazines in a hurry was a little clunky, especially when compared to how quickly a mag change could be accomplished using Mike's 10rd AICS-format mags.

Long story short, I wound up sending both of the CMP 40X & XB actions I had to Jonathan Elrod, in Denver, N.C., for the conversion work. I barreled both actions afterwards, and wound up with a couple of really accurate rifles with the same weights & proportions as my CF PRS-style competition rifles. I'd been aware from conversing with Mike that he had a custom action - loosely based on the 40X RF - in mind. Having just taken a position as head of the mechanical engineering dept at Savage Arms & moving from his home in Florida up to Connecticut, he had to get his shop & machine tools moved and into a new shop, so it was going to be awhile before he'd get this new action design refined & completed, ready for production.

A big part of bringing his new 22RF action to market was finding a shop with not only the capability to manufacture the action at a high level of quality & precision, but with good people able to deal with the public on a level that Mike could be happy with. He found such a company in Vudoo Gun Works in St. George, Utah. The resulting partnership has proven itself, not just up to the standards mentioned, but in going above & beyond them in my experience. I bought my first V-22 action in early December of 2017, barreled it with a Krieger blank, and have been happily shooting it ever since. I liked it so much that I've since bought a several more barreled actions from Vudoo, selling a couple to friends who wanted a top quality 22RF repeater.

I've got a nice Anschutz 2011 prone smallbore rifle, and recently bought one of CZ's new 457 American sporters in .22LR. Also have a couple of Win 52Ds from the CMP - one I kept as a target rifle, the other was converted into a single shot sporter. Then there's a CLE dedicated 22RF upper in the AR15 format, as well as a Ruger 10/22 hvy bbl in a B&C Anschutz-style offhand stock - so it's fair to say that I love .22s. But nothing satisfies the way the 40X/XB & V-22 repeaters do - accuracy & reliability are top-notch, and I'm always looking forward to those days when conditions are conducive to getting a couple of these rifles out and getting in some quality trigger time.

From what I'm seeing, I believe 22RF repeaters have moved beyond just being trainers for CF rifles. There are quite a large number of clubs that are running NRL22 matches, as well as other similar match formats. Not hard to understand why - it's a great way to get younger shooters started, the range requirements are only 100yds for the NRL22 match format, steel targets suitable for 22RF can be much lighter & less expensive, ammo is less expensive, and in urban or rural areas, 22RF is much quieter, making considerably less noise to bother neighbors. I'm hoping to be able to make it to a bunch of these matches this season myself.

Yes Vudoos are right there as they are custom built rifles. Custom actions and barrels with great triggers and many stock choices. Have had mine since around October 2017 and it's never let me down in a match. If you buy one you will not be disappointed.
