Nosler Custom Comp 52 gr hollow points in a 22-250

I just bought some Nosler Custom Comp 52 gr hollow points to load in my Savage FVSS 1-12 twist 22-250. I have Varget but would like to try some other powders. Any suggestions? It must not be tempature sensitive.

Thanks

I don't think there exists a powder that is not tempature sensitive to some extent. I use H380 in my 22-250 shooting 50gr ballistic silver tips and 52gr Sierra #1410. They shoot very well for me.

I used 37.0 to 38.0 of H-380 with that same bullet with good results in a Bergara 1:12" twist .22-250 barrel on a Remington 700 set up for swap barrels. Also using those loads the Nosler 52 grain Custom Comp shot to the same size groups in the .22-250 Ackley Improved barrel, which is sub .5". Seems to be very consistent even in fire forming brass.

As for temperature sensitivity, I have used H-380 in 50 degrees of Oregon spring to 104 degrees to summer Central California without any noticeable change in pressure or accuracy. Same with the .257 Roberts Ackley Improved, although with 48.5 grains of H-380.

As has been said, 38.0 gr. of H380 and that 22-250 will sing:)! I used to shoot a similar load but, with Berger 52gr. Match Varmints, and mine shot lights out! That is as long as I did my part ;)! Never noticed any problem with temp. sensitivity either! Hope I helped!!

Thanks guys. I've never used H380 because I may shoot in temps from 10* to 105*. I may have to try it though, there are a lot of loads posted with it.

34.0 grains of RL-15 (Sierra & Berger bullets) yields the best accuracy in my model 12 LRPV 22-250, 1:12 twist.

Thanks guys, I've loaded up 30 rounds, 5 each starting at 34.5 grains up to 37.0 grains of Varget, CCI 200 primers, bullets are loaded at .0175" off the lands. In testing with 55gr V-max and 55gr Gamekings there was no real difference between .015" and .020. Anything closer or farther out and the groups started opening up. I'm catching crappie now so I don't know when I'll get to shoot my rifle.

In 20 degree weather last weekend I shot some of my best groups in the snow using 8208XBR in the 22-250 and .223. At 200 yards
I got 1/2moa

2). IMR4064.
3). Varget
4). R-15

Nice shooting. Today I picked up a pound of 4064 and 1000 primers, so I now have Varget, H380 and 4064 to try. My new brass should be here tomorrow so I can finish loading my test rounds. If the wind doesn't howl I'll go fishing though.

Thanks guys.

Watch H-380 in hot weather..I shoot a Savage 12 LRPV....same load..mid 80's up ..the primers looked flat and on some shots the bolt was stickey..I switched to W780 for the summer w/ 52gr A-Max..rem brass..WW large primer and shot positive bug holes A 100m
