Nosler Ballistic tip bullets -

40gr NBT's in my 22-204 for pelt hunting. 40gr NBT in the 222 Rem for accuracy on small stuff. 55gr NBT both Leaded and Lead-Free in the 6x45 and 6mm-204 for coyotes. 85gr NBT in my 25-204 for Javelina and Antelope if I ever get a tag. 100gr Partitions in the 25-204 for whitetails.

My BinL and his nephew are big fans in their 7-08's for N. WI whitetails.

I use them in my custom 7mm mag (140gr) works great on deer and very accurate. Also shoot 125gr BT in my savage striker bolt action pistol in 308.

The 55 grain variety out of my 223 shoots better than any bullet i have ever fired. I still marvel at the groups.

My Howa .223 Varmint just gobbled them up. I didn't even try anything else after finding a load with those the orange tipped pills. Blows up PDs all over the place too.

Noslers are thicker and has a solid base. They hold together just a little better than Hornady bt bullets that have a base that is as thin as the sides of the bullet. Noslers will shoot through a coyote but not hornady. normally anyway.

That is the reason I quit using them for p. dogs. Too many richocets.

In response to the first two posts. With my Savage 223 I shot a coyote directly in the shoulder at 80 yds with the 40gr Vmax. It knocked him down, spun around twice and took off. No blood anywhere. Next weekend I shot a coyote, looking straight at me, 2 inches off center in the chest at250 yds with the Nosler 55gr BT. The bullet exited just in front of his hind leg, after turning his chest cavity into liquid. The SOB still ran 50 yards to expire.

For deer over 2500 fps, I don't like them, they destroy too much meat, yes they knock deer down and shoot well but too messy. I'm in LA so I'm not shooting big deer either 200lbs is considered big here but I prefer the partition for deer in most of my rifles. When I'm shooting hogs idgac its just pest control I shoot whatever's is cheapest, laying around, and hits where I aim.
That said I do load them in my 7mm tcu, old 300 savage, 30-30 ( i know, only two shots) etc as they still expand well at the lower velocity and hold together.
If your shooting coyotes or other varmints they're good for that too

I used Remington brand cartridges loaded with Ballistic Tips in .30-06 and .280 for 20+ years on GA, KY & AL deer and FL hogs without complaint. Then Remington got tired of paying royalties and made the Accu-Tip. I got caught up in the marketing and switched to a monolithic bullet and have had so-so results. I still want to love the monolithics and I'm trying to find my way to justify them. Ballistic Tips simply work when I do my part.

I think that's as much a function of matching caliber to game size. What chambering were you using? When I tried the 90 grain from the 243 I had no exit and quite minimal meat loss on a 150 pound doe.
3006, 308, nothing too big or crazy
I did hit a few past 200-300 yds which did much better hence my theory of 2500 fps
I pretty much switched to partitions after that
Used my leftovers in a 300 savage and a 3030 for hogs
They did fine

I used the 7mm 140gr BT in my 7 STW for years. It was a hammer and never had an issue double shouldering Whitetail deer in ND from 100-500yds. I did switch to the 140 accubond though. I was running the 140s at 3565 and never had blowups at close range and they always exited.

Why did you switch to accubond if the BT's were working so well?
I just wanted a bonded bullet just for an extra measure and if I would go elk hunting. They were both the same price at that time and accuracy was the same. I really didn't see any performance changes switching to accubonds either. They were like lightning on deer.
