I stopped into the Museum in Bowman, ND - it is INCREDIBLE. The car museum (Rhame) looks neat but always looks "closed". Next time.Did you stop to see the museum? They have a collection of old cars worth the stop if you are into that sort of thing.
I stayed in my trailerdid you stay at the Bunk House in Marmoth? And have an incredible Rib eye Steak across the street at the bar?
Straight North of Baker is a little town of Webaux Montana. There used to be a little Bar called the Shamrock. One night a week they would have Prime Rib. I come from Cattle country so.. when i say its one of the best Prime Rib steaks i have ever had.... that is sayin something. Most places i am disappointed when i order a steak when outside cattle country.I stayed in my trailerI will check it out next time I'm up there. Marmarth is just a cool place. I like Baker, too.
My Uncle Richard lives in Bowman. He collects Metal signs and has a great big collection of old memorabilia.I stopped into the Museum in Bowman, ND - it is INCREDIBLE. The car museum (Rhame) looks neat but always looks "closed". Next time.
Wow, that sounds good. Never made it up to Wibaux. I had a fantastic steak in a restaurant in Bowman maybe 10 years ago, but it is long closed. There is alot of new drilling and pipes, pumps, infrastructure near Baker last few trips. Natural gas reserves newly discovered?Straight North of Baker is a little town of Webaux Montana. We had a Job in Beach North Dakota and we would drive over one night a week for the Prime RIb... My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Thanks. Didnt know that. Crazy to think its the first new one in that long... bunch of dang Nut jobs thinking this Green Energy is going to end OIl use in the foreseeable future. Maybe some day... its not there yet, not even close. And the world just keeps getting more populated every day....they did build a new refinery in Dickinson, for diesel only, the 1st NEW refinery in over 40 yrs in the country. should do like the power plants, find coal, build one and save transportation costs. oh, can't do that, Buffet might lose money.
I'm thinking "green energy" is a long way off, too. Spent time in WY and the coal trains are some miles long.Thanks. Didnt know that. Sorry for the Derail on a nice topic of shooting Ground Rats.
Yes, there are muleys and antelope up there. It was hot and too early this time, I'd guess. I didn't see any on this trip, but have seen many muleys on earlier trips. I've had mule deer jump over the truck while driving, on a steep incline. When the Price of Oil goes above about $50 a barrel or so, they start drilling. Infrastructure comes along with that. They need to put in a Refinery up there somewhere more than anything but the left has shot that down so many times its disgusting.
Any way, back to the hunting. Looks like you had a great trip. I miss hunting Muley's and Antelope in that exact area you were Prairie Rat hunting.
thx for the reply. what are you shooting; lately?I work north of Dickinson 150 miles and my home is south 90. I've been in the oilfield service sector for the last 12 years.
I'd forgotten about the refinery, the Three Affiliated Tribes on the Ft. Berthold were also permitting a refinery and I'm not sure if that ever got off the ground.
When I came through Dickinson last Wednesday on way way to a match in SD fuel was 25+ cents higher than up north where I work or further south where my home is.
Just finished up the benchrest season. Shot a pair of 6 BRAs this year. Had my best season yet, I'm pretty happy with it.thx for the reply. what are you shooting; lately?
I'm a warm weather (not deep winter anyway) visitor.
