Norma Brass question? (silly most likely)

I would be interested in what kind of results you get with the Nosler brass you have. Once I'm able to test the Nosler 6.5 Creedmoor brass I have I plan to share those results. From everything I have heard or read so far, Nosler brass seems to be hit and miss. Since Nosler brass is part of the subject, can anyone confirm if Federal makes Nosler brass for them?
I will post what I find. I am working up hunting loads using new bullets- Hammer.

I hope I can get it dialed in without too much work. We will see.

You will have no issues with nosler if you buy the fully prepped models. It usually comes in a box of 25 or whatever. The bulk counts in the bag are fine but not sorted or prepped- the price reflects it. I have been hammering on nosler brass in 280rem fireformed into the real ackley, 26,28 and especially 33. It still works like new. Norma used to make nosler brass but they bought ssa and its even better now. I have hit some 33 noslers shooting 300smk like it was a lapua mag. 20+ firings on some load workup brass and its still like new. Here is the difference:image.jpg

I'm going to give the box of 6.5 Creedmoor Nosler brass I have every opportunity to perform. For initial testing I'm going to load it with FGMM primers, RL16, Berger 130 gr hybrids, and Sierra 142 gr MatchKings. I'll probably try the 147 gr ELD-M with the same powder and primers too.

Its all in what your intended purpose is. If i was shooting for any type of competition i would make sure i built a rifle around lapua brass. Nosler is not a substitute if lapua is available.

Saying that Lapua is slightly better doesn't surprise me. It's also disconcerting too. Norma brass demands the same premium as Lapua. In fact from my searching Norma brass can actually cost more by comparison. I think at this point I'm going to try a batch of Norma and Hornady brass. I haven't heard much good about Nosler brass but I have some in 6.5 Creedmoor to test. If the Nosler 6.5 Creedmoor brass pans out I might give the Nosler 264 Win Mag brass a try. I'm really hoping Norma is the winner though. Of the three Norma should require the least prep to get the best results.

I'm still open to other opinions. Thank you to everyone that has replied so far.
Nosler brass is actually quite good as well of the four you mentioned Hornaday is the worst they are notorious for being soft and not lasting very long at all Have you ever tried Peterson brass they make it for the 65 Creedmoor I have never tried it because they don’t offer it and 65 x 2 84But I’ve heard good things about it

No I haven't tried Peterson brass yet but I'm definitely going to. I know some guys that use it and swear by it. I'm going to get some Norma and Peterson brass in 6.5 Creedmoor to test against the Nosler and Starline brass I currently have. Granted I could just buy Lapua and be done with it but that only tells me what I already know. Plus this allows me to test different products.

Youll find the peterson equal to lapua. Starline is good.

I tried Nosler brass when it very first came out. I was less than pleased with neck thickness and case weight. That, however, was a few years back. Wonder if they have "tightened" things up?

I have heard the same thing in the past which has made me shy away from trying it. I have a box of Nosler brass through a recent sale here on the forum that I'm looking forward to testing.

Why is this disconcerting to me? I ask about Norma brass and find out Norma made Nosler's problem child brass initially.

As a side note I have heard Nosler brass is made by Federal now but have no confirmation.
Nosler bought silver state armory. They make their own brass in house

Norma makes Nosler brass, they're both owned by a company in Europe (Ruag) or something. I've shot both Nosller and Norma in a custom 7mm (based off of 7 RSAUM Brass). In my opinion the Nosler brass wasn't worth the price difference between them. For what it's worth I tried the Norma 6 Dasher brass (both iterations) and neither were anywhere near 6 Dasher brass made from Lapua 6mm BR brass. Your mileage may vary, best of luck with whatever choice you make.

Do you have a verifiable source that Nosler bras is indeed made by Norma? I have heard Norma made it initially. However now there is speculation that Federal or Silver State Armory makes Nosler brass. Personally without some type of verifiable proof the whole lot sounds like a lot of conjecture.

Your info is old- like 2013 old which is when they bought ssa. The ssa guys used to shoot br. They even made some ppc brass for a few days.

I corrected my reply, several years back Nosler 7SAUM brass was made by Norma but it no longer is. Sorry for any of the confusion may have caused.

Just got a chance to actually measure and neck down some Nosler brass. The “fully prep ready to load” brass is very consistent. Lengthwise it is within .001. Neck diameter is within .0005. I stopped measuring after 8 pieces. I don’t know where it was made but I don’t honk you can ask for much more. I will shoot some of it along with the regular Nosler and see how it holds up.

l'm not too sure about Norma brass consistency.. l got some mixed 223Rem brass awhile back. There were a few 223 Norma cases in the batch... Some weighed 92 grains while others were 100 grains
