Norma Brass question? (silly most likely)

Ok so I'm in the process of gathering parts to finish a 264 Winchester Magnum rifle build. Since I have the parts I want sorted out I am figuring out reloading components. Brass is my biggest ? right now. Near as I can tell the best brass available for the cartridge is Norma. I don't have any first hand experience with Norma brass so I was hoping you all might help me out. Is Norma brass the quality that other brass manufacturers such as Lapua and Peterson are?

Many people say that Norma is soft. Hard to go wrong with RWS. They make 7mm Remington Magnum. Just neck that down and you have a 264 WinMag.

Just finished necking down some Norma 7mm STW to .257 STW. I have used it since 2007 in a very hot hunting load. It is as consistent as Lapua. Excellent brass. However, I do not worry about long term use with the load I run for hunting.

Honestly given the 264 Win Mags performance I would be happy with 3-4 firings. That many reloads for 200 peices of brass should out last the barrel or be done by the time the barrel is done.

You will get that if you are not running suoer hit loads. I am running 3900 fps with 100gr bullets. Not good for case life. But again, I don’t care about case life.

I have tons of 7mm Magnum brass. Most of it brand new that I would make you a great deal on if you wanna do the whole necking down part.

Thank You for the offer. I want to try 264 brass first if at all possible. Turning and reaming necks isn't part of my brass prep currently and I don't really want to make that investment right now. If I absolutely have to I will but prefer not to. If 264 brass doesn't work out the next barrel will probably be 7mm mag. Either way it good to have a lead on brass. I'll keep this as an option and thank you again for offering.

I have Lapua and Norma for my 6.5 x 284 Norma they are both very good brass but Lapua is slightly better more uniform

Saying that Lapua is slightly better doesn't surprise me. It's also disconcerting too. Norma brass demands the same premium as Lapua. In fact from my searching Norma brass can actually cost more by comparison. I think at this point I'm going to try a batch of Norma and Hornady brass. I haven't heard much good about Nosler brass but I have some in 6.5 Creedmoor to test. If the Nosler 6.5 Creedmoor brass pans out I might give the Nosler 264 Win Mag brass a try. I'm really hoping Norma is the winner though. Of the three Norma should require the least prep to get the best results.

I'm still open to other opinions. Thank you to everyone that has replied so far.

In my experience, Nosler will still have inconsistent neck thickness and shallow primer pockets, but the lot has a better chance of having case volume that is still within the same Zip Code.

In the last 2 weeks, I have been fire forming some Norma 280 brass into 280 AI brass. Some of the brass now have 5 firings including the forming. Primer pockets are still fine, so, they are working just fine for me.

Interesting. I have a box of Nosler prepped 7mmSTW. I will open it and see how consistent the neck thickness is. I have never had problems with it in the past.

I would be interested in what kind of results you get with the Nosler brass you have. Once I'm able to test the Nosler 6.5 Creedmoor brass I have I plan to share those results. From everything I have heard or read so far, Nosler brass seems to be hit and miss. Since Nosler brass is part of the subject, can anyone confirm if Federal makes Nosler brass for them?
