Norma 6Dasher Brass

I 100% have to disagree with the above. I don't see anyone being desperate enough to pay a 40% mark up on product that will essentially be free flowing, even if they have to wait a little bit for it. People on this board are smart enough to either get in on the initial order, or wait to hear results from the initial order before jumping it. In either case I do not see any sky is falling scenarios here, this is still a very small niche market and no where near the same as fighting neckbeards while waiting on .22 ammunition to come in at Wal-Mart. Show me who here is hoarding or scalping premium brass??
There are a few rotten apples in every barrel. Anytime you see a "limited production" run of the "latest and greatest gizmo", the rotten apples crawl out from under their rocks. There have already been a few asking for "Only a couple of thousand".

Not wanting to start an argument but people are paying "double" for Lapua "gold box" 6mmbr brass since they stopped making it and went over to the new blue box. Simply a matter of supply and demand, those that have it in quantity in the beginning will sell it for a profit no doubt.

I think if you factor in the cost of fire forming Dasher brass with the cost of the BR brass, primers, bullets and powder you buy to make it and with out the labor and time involved the cost of new Norma Dasher brass should be in line. It is very hard to fire form to 1.550 every time, and now all i will have to do is trim to what i want and turn my neck. At my age time is very important, and i appreciate what Shiraz has done. I'm just finishing up prepping 200 new Lapua to fireform, but I'll be trying the Norma brass next time. I just reduced my reamer by .010" to accomodate the shorter Lapua Dasher lengths for my new rifle. Now I'll need to find someone with a throating reamer.

Yea, those short necks really affect accuracy. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/?s=30+wolf+pup&submit=Search
I'm sure some one is already planning on running a standard Dasher reamer in deep for a little extra capacity.

Hmmm... maybe could be called a 6INCH?

Here's something I ran across last December (scroll down to middle of this page); had a reamer done by JGS then 1:9 Brux barrel chambered by Ryan Pierce early this year. So far I'm pleased with how it's performing but I'm still evaluating propellants. Getting 2,800 fps with 180 Hybrids and VLD's with H4350, N550 or RL17.

Keeping the thread on track, I heard from Norma today and the air shipment is leaving on the 16th of May, so after customs clearance etc, we should have it in house on schedule by the end of the month.

We will be getting more than 50K by air so the hoarders will have to look elsewhere to make money :)

Shiraz, that is great news. I can't wait. Let me ask what I assume everyone will want to know including myself:

Any idea on pricing and when you will be taking orders on the site?

Thanks a lot,
Joe

I am supposed to get that tomorrow.

If I get that in time, it may be up on our website with model number by tomorrow evening.

Bob, It will be a game changer because of less work and no fire forming. It seems to me that the Dasher set a lot of records the way it was, and the cases lasted forever. I seem to get a lot of life out of a barrel at it's neck length now and accuracy too, as do many others. It takes a lot of the work out of making them for sure, and when the brown truck drops some at the door the old reamer comes out. I have no trouble getting 3100 with Varget, so if you want to get to the next node you will be right back fire forming with all the work. When you run them up, there goes the barrel life……. jim
Jim, yes there are many advantages to the longer neck. The Dashers are winning a lot and it's hard to argue with success. I have to wonder how many of those same shooters would have done under the same conditions with standard 6BR. And how many of them changed just to try something new.

I don't think the 6br can or will ever keep up with the conditions at 1000. If i remember it right Williamsport had a 6br set a record Saturday and a 6.5 x 284 beat it on Sunday at Reade Range. So on a given day they can if a Dasher isn't on the relay. The Dasher continues to shoot small groups and you don't see 6brs. at 1000 any more. jim
