Non bushing dies?

Ive heard that bushings cause doughnuts in the neck, and am therefore looking for recommendations on the best non bushing dies . . . Do they need to be custom honed to particular brand of brass? Im new-ish to this

Thank you

I have never had a problem with donuts using bushing dies. But if you want to go the other direction buy a Forster non bushing die , then determine the correct neck diameter and send it to Forster and they will hone the neck for about $12. Takes about 10 - 14 days turn around.

Thanks for posting that, Klaus. Nonsensical rumors can get started easily with the broad impact of Internet communications and it's good to nip them in the bud whenever possible. Rest assured that bushing dies are not the cause of donuts in the case neck. If they were, the guys who use regular sizing dies wouldn't get donuts; and believe me, they do get donuts.

Bushings in Bushing dies and donuts are not related. The use of a bushing does not create a donut. Bushings create tension.

Whenever I "Neck-up" for the 6PPC and 30BR I produce donuts. Internal and external. Turning with a K&M Carbide Cutting Pilot and Carbide Cutter eliminates both at the same time.

Foregoing the use of a bushing die and a variety of bushings eliminates the ability to fine tune a load with neck tension [the other part of fine tuning being seating depth].

Don't handicap yourself by using a plain Jane F/L die, unless you have a ton of money, so that you can have F/L dies separately honed for a variety of neck tensions.
