Node difference

You may be right, very minute movements of a tuner make dramatic changes in group size? why not seating depth. I was taught by a guy that was a discipline of bench rest shooters and it the time he was watching what they did all of them were into the lands. We always thought that the bullet had no room to get out of alignment with the bore if it was already touching

fwiw, I almost always load into the lands by some amount or a small amount off, like .010. IME, this has virtually always worked better than large amounts of jumping, for me.

I have a 6mm Competition Match br rifle that I shot with the DTAC jumping 0.030. It was accurate enough to give me 2" 10 shot group at 800 yards. One day I decided to load it in the lands 0.010. I only shot it at short range. 100 yards, 5 5 shot groups, 2 in the 0's , 1 in the 0.1, 1 in the 0.2's and 1 in the low 0.3's. Back to Back.
I then took it to 215 yards, put up a 1"dot. Used the dot for my poa and shot a 10 shot group on the left of the dot and a 15 shot group on the right. Ragged holes. It never shot that good jumping.

To me, I don't care where it shoots best. Starting at full jam and only having one way you can go and for a shorter distance just makes more sense than jumping around. Especially when I virtually always find the best spot inside of that range.
