Graf's has the burn rate charts to compare them, also has Load Data (LIMITED CALS and bullet weights) from Nobel Sport.

CJ6 I have not been able to find the burn rate chart you speak of, where on Graf's is it.
I did a search on their web and it indicated none found.
Bob

Go to this page: http://www.grafs.com/catalog/tech-resource/technicalResourceId/20/productId/11585

OR, download this file:

I couldn't find it either Bob. Most sites have lousy search results. I put in primers on a site and it returned no results. They clearly had them but just wanted to see what would happen similar to searching on midway.

Click on vectan powders and in the right of the page is a handout for reloading and you can open it off grafs site. I tried to print it in pdf format but it wont.

There ya go. I'm bad at links so Thanks Forum Boss for inserting them. Also if you click on a specific powder it'll have the link to burn rate and another link for load data (for that powder). Powder Valley's link is similar (same data sheets, similar link)

Back in the day I used Vectan SP 2 for hot loads in the 38 Super. It metered well and gave consistent velocities. As to the rifle powders, I have no idea.

A friend of mine bought some a couple months ago. He got the one that is similar to H4350 burn rate. The few rounds that he tried with it in his .260, it seemed to shoot decent as far as accuracy is concerned but he said it left his barrel way bad nasty.

I asked my brother-in-law the question. He lived in France for 20+ years and worked as a gunsmith in one of their big chain outdoor stores. I present his response:
Query:
Nobel VECTAN powders are showing up in this country now. Of course everyone wants to find out if they're worth messing with. What has been your experience?

Answer:
They're O.K. Better than most, but if you want the absolute best , then get (if you can !!) the Finnish powder made by the firm of VIHTAVUORI OY.
And:
Vectan are one of the best run-of-the-mill powders, but Vihtavuori are the Rolls-Royce of powders.

So there you have it from an experienced person.. YMMV...

I bought 6+ lb of tubal 3000 off a friend and found a burn rate chart as the one posted. I tried it in two 6 mm BRs and found it to be promising. Being single based, MV increases were gradual with increased charges. My lot was closer to 10x and benchmark, so I tried some in a 20 TAC with 35 gr bergers. Same load as 10x got the same MV and very small groups. I've read that single base powders, having no nitroglycerin, burn cleaner and tend not to surprise you with sudden pressure spikes. Fwiw, the testing with the 6mmbr surports this....2 gr increases produced gradual MV increases. I like and shoot a lot if vhitavouri but it's price has me trying others and my lot of tubal 3000 is being used regularly.

Thanks for posting the link to that burn rate chart! That's a nice addition to those I'd already had saved, what with some of the newer powders it includes. I'm a big fan of IMR 8208 XBR, been curious where it fits in since it arrived several years ago.

There are so many different powders on the market today that are so similar I tend to stick with the ones that are usually the most available. That keeps me from having to redo all my loads if the "not so plentiful" powders end up disappearing from the market for any length of time due to their having to come from far away countries.

That's why I pretty much stick with Hodgdon/IMR powders. Good, bad, or attrocious, they seem to be available on a regular basis unlike others.
