No Turn Neck 6ppc

This goes against a lot of conventional wisdom but I run no turn brass in my 6BRA and 6PPC. I use Lapua brass. I’ve seen no ill effects from shooting unturned brass. My guns are highly competitive and just put up a 2nd and 3rd place finishes at the Super
Shoot.

I’ve also turned thousands of necks over the years.

I can't say that one is better than the other, for sure. I've had pretty good luck from a no turn 6 Grendel in short range, with a grand and two yardage wins in the last 3 ubr nationals.

I tested it pretty extensively and really couldn't find that one was/is clearly better. This coming from someone who used to believe the opposite, especially when a case is necked up or down a fair amount.
As Bart, I pretty much only use Lapua brass.
Some things are more important than other and some things are very important..because we think they are.

I don't shoot competitively but I have owned both tight neck and no turn neck chamberings in PPCs and honestly I never saw much difference in groups between the two. That's my reason for answering L Murphy in the manner I did. Thanks for the conformations.

Funny how this comes up right when I'm in the middle of neck turning some cases. Even if I had a .272 neck, I would have to neck turn anyway. First, I'm a firm believer in it and everything I shoot has turned necks, but that is a self-inflicted form of torture I just live with. Second, because this lot of brass has .015 thick necks. I couldn't get away without doing it if I wanted, although a light skim to the correct size would be much easier than taking them down to .008.

my comments were from another shooter on another forum a few years back.
i will not argue with bart..so that ends that
Ultimately, your decision should come from your results but yes, Bart is a knowledgeable and his opinion should be valued. But just think how many people base their posts on what they've heard or read rather than doing the testing for themselves. That's got as much to do with why I said what I did as anything...that if you think it matters, then it matters. Whether that comes from testing or the internet is up to you but everything should be tested and we should be able to come to our own conclusions from that testing. That's how we know things.
