No more hard wood shooting benches for me!

I use to shoot off of a similar stool that had wheels and I still do from my shooting room, but it's an office chair. I've never had a problem with them moving. I think it sounds good in theory but just isn't an issue, at least not to me. I feel solid or I'm not positioned right. That's not because of the wheels though. In fact, they might actually be easier to get the stool positioned just right on. I think it's like sitting at a desk, writing. If the stool moves for that, it'll move when you shoot too. If not, and I don't think we see that, realistically, then forget about it. Just my two pennies on that.

I use a shop built bench when shooting prairie dogs and gophers. It swings 360, assembles easy, quickly and works well. At the range I use a folding camp chair with a 3'' cushion. It's not the type that folds into a cylinder then goes in a bag. With the cushion I'm at the right height for the table and solid. With a little movement I can look thru the spotting scope. It takes a little effort to get up or down, but it beats the hell out of the steel stools provided.
