No Hunting within 1000 yards of a residence!

I own several farms that I don't live on. In this area there is a lot of little neighborhoods with very close together houses. A few years back I was asked by both the state police and the local sheriff's dept. if they could use one of the farms to sight in and target shoot their swat team and sniper rifles. Not an issue, and I showed them exactly where to go and shoot safely. A couple years go by and everyone is happy, these guys are all glad they have a place to shoot so close to home.
Then a "stray bullet" breaks thru the window of a house in a neighborhood about 3 miles away. In almost the exact opposite direction the troopers and deputies shoot. Somehow the local communist democrat run news media {aren't they all??} reached the conclusion and reported that it was a stray bullet from local LEO's practicing at an "unauthorized range".
The homeowner files suit and receives an "undisclosed" settlement. Many moons ago I worked with the homeowner and he never seemed like this type. I guess certain events can trigger true colors. All the LEO's are told that they can no longer shoot on private property. Both dept's now have to pay for time and fuel to travel an hour one way to shoot.
The bullet, which barely had enough speed to crack thru the window and land harmlessly on the floor was not the type or caliber they shoot and was in near pristine condition. But, they were there shooting that day, in fact several responded to the call of a "sniper shooting into houses with a black rifle"....this is the crazy world we live in!!
You cant make this stuff up. There is stupid and then there is democrat stupid. They take stupid to a whole new level. They even have a special kind of stupid...it's called California democrat stupid {as in keep voting for Pelosi and Feinstein}

Man, I never knew there were seven or eight levels of stupid till I read this, and wow, so true

While I agree that hunting too closely to residencies is a dangerous situation, it is not always the fault of the hunting community. I used to hunt on a farm owned by a close friend. It is over 500 acres. It was in a farming community. Then developers bought a few of the surrounding farms and built housing. I sincerely doubt these builders told the lot buyers that they were building in areas were most of the residents were active hunters and shooters.

My friend had a shooting range on one edge of his property and we spent many hours there enjoying ourselves. As soon as the first house was occupied, the complaints started coming in. During hunting season, every time a shot was fired, the local police showed up, made a report, which required they talk to the hunters, and then had to go and talk to the complainant. While we were allowed to continue the hunt, the delay and extra activity usually ruined the prospects of bagging any game.

Then there was the range activity. During the summer months, we would gather there and shoot, eat and drink a few beers after the shooting finished. Every time we met there, we saw the police. We started to provide extra hamburgers and hot dogs, knowing they would be there.

I realize that living next to a farm where folks are doing a lot of shooting can be disconcerting to none shooters, especially when four or five guys are continuously sending bullets downrange, it is they who decided to move to the country. This has become a never ending problem with no satisfactory solution.

Lets encourage them to MOVE back to where they came from, I am getting tired of this crap move into someone's back yard and then take over.. GO HOME !!

Ok Ok I do live in Commie CA but was born and raised here,

I doubt the guy with the stray bullet thought of suing on his own, just like all the other people they are approached by BOTTOM FEEDERS looking to line their own pockets, They are sold a story of riches to be had... Justice to dispense ...
