When you fire the cases, smear a thin coat of sizing wax on the body of the case to insure it doesn’t grip the chamber walls but comes back against the bolt face.

Lubing cases for the first firing is something I've done for a couple decades now....along with intentionally pushing the shoulders back .020 for that first 'whap'.

Both gauges? The reason I ask is clearly, the no-go is longer than the go and if it extracts one but not the other, the answer might be found in that. But as someone else mentioned, tape on the back side of a go gage will skew that from being of any help, as it will simply push the extractor groove further from the extractor. It will need to be the actual no-go gage for it to tell you anything for sure.

Another thing is I've seen some cases with thicker rims than others, doing essentially the same as tape.
