Both gauges? The reason I ask is clearly, the no-go is longer than the go and if it extracts one but not the other, the answer might be found in that. But as someone else mentioned, tape on the back side of a go gage will skew that from being of any help, as it will simply push the extractor groove further from the extractor. It will need to be the actual no-go gage for it to tell you anything for sure.

Another thing is I've seen some cases with thicker rims than others, doing essentially the same as tape.
